General overview

The outside and inside of my home blends together with oversized patio doors and large windows. The adobe structure has very high ceilings with wooden beams, brick and teja construction. Your heating/air conditioning is achieved by opening and closing the doors and windows according to the season and time of day. For the few cool December/January evenings my fireplace provides all you might need. There is one very large ensuite bedroom with a queen bed. The open design living room/kitchen has two daybeds. The house has more than 350 recycled bottles to add unique lighting and atmosphere to the house. There is an additional full bathroom and storage room. The covered terrace is 20 mts/5 where you may prefer to spend your time soaking in the peace and amazing views. The house is all one level with wide doorways for a wheelchair. I don't like too much clutter but I do have some lovely wall decorations from my travels. This is a very comfortable house and my guests are always amazed when they walk in to see the unique architecture, gorgeous views and peaceful setting.

The space

The garden is 1,000 sq mts enclosed with a board fence. There are mature trees on two sides, large agaves and flowering trees. Being perched high above the lake with unrestricted views and surrounded by fields and forested mountains, you immediately have a feeling of lightness and peace. The high ceilings and unique niches of bottle lights, open closets and shelving offer a simple but practical space with plenty of storage. There is a large lawn on both sides. The road is unpaved but passable at all times.

Guest access

The road to the reservoir is unpaved but well travelled by the local community. This is a popular biking, off road area and the walks just out your door are numerous and all beautiful. There is taxi service from Mascota (4 kms.) or less than an hour walk.

Notes

If you want to experience rural living in the precious town of Mascota. It has been designated as a Pueblo Magico for it's well preserved architecture and spectacular landscapes. People are friendly and welcoming and it is easy to make friends here. Please note that the house comes with my guard dogs that live outside.

Neighbourhood

The Presa Corrinchis which boasts a lovely fjord like lake, kayaking, four lakesides restaurants (a km. down the road from the house). The town of Mascota has all the modern conveniences from a place to sit outside for a great cup of coffee, lively plaza and many small stores to explore along the cobblestoned street. Close to the house there are farmers grazing their cattle. This is horse country so you will often encounter our cowboys working the cattle.

Getting to my home

The nearest airport is Puerto Vallarta, 90 kms. away. There are frequent buses from Puerto Vallarta to Mascota or to Guadalajara. If you enjoying walking or biking the road to town is a lovely excursion or the 10 minute walk to the lake is easy.

Mary

I am an older American woman who has lived many years in Mexico. I have also lived in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Ecuador,France, Peru,Colombia and Brazil. I am very familiar with Jalisco having run our sheep/cattle ranch here for 15 years. Later after living in France for two years, I returned to be the director of the Haciendas y Casas Rurales of Jalisco which gave me the opportunity to experience even more areas. I chose to build my ecological adobe home where I found the almost perfect climate in the mountains about 1.5 hours from Puerto Vallarta and 3 hours from Guadalajara. Mascota attracted me for it's spectacular surrounding including the lovely reservoir my house overlooks. I also sought out a quiet area: my house is 4 kms. from town set in a forest/field with no close neighbors.
