General overview
Debrecen is the second largest city of Hungary after our magnificent capital Budapest. You can reach Budapest with 2 hours driving (3 hours on the train).
I do suggest using of public transport (safe, reliable and relaxing + save your enviroment).
Debrecen is famous for the annual summer flower carnival on the 20th of August (on our national celebration day, St Stephan's day) . The city is full of tourists and people are standing alongside of the roads in the city centre to see the flower compositions and marching musicians and dance groups.
That time of the year is very hot, usually around 30 degrees Celsius but most of the summer starting from end of May until middle of September has very dry and hot weather around 30 or even higher temperatures. The best time to go to the open-air water park of Debrecen that has been completely rebuilt some years ago. Think one of the best architectural solution of a baths.

In winter time we hardly have snow here and not so chilly as it was years ago. The daily average temperature is above zero so no frost bite on your face :)
In winter the best to do enjoy the Hungarian thermal spa culture (you need to wear swimming suit or some places only towel).
The ground under our feet is rich in hot thermal water and almost every bigger town has its thermal bath so you can decide if want to relax in a big one in a big city sharing with many people or prefer a small almost empty thermal bath in a small town for very cheap.
Entrance fees are very low comparing to any western European country in general.
Also the food in canteens or restaurants are much cheaper in debrecen than in budapest or in western Europe.
Important to highlight that you can buy beer the cheapest in Debrecen comparing to european cities!!!

I' really happy that we could stay in Tünde´s apartment in the beatiful city of Debrecin. It is perfect place to relax, it have many great spa centers, cheap and tasty food and delicious wines. Everything was so close and we realy had enjoyable relaxed days. The apartment is equped with everything that you need for stay and it is very comfortable.
Tünde was very helpful so we could quickly find our way around the city and make the best use of our time. I am looking forward to my next stay because I definitely want to come back.
Martina's home is in a beautiful area close to the mountains. The apartment has everything that we needed for our 6 day stay. It was very clean and very easy to find. We got all information and help.
Martina was extremely helpful and gave ideas about where and how to go. We would love to go back to hike and enjoy the Tatras.
Martina was very reliable about her arrival. She treated my home as if it would be hers. She informed me when she wanted to leave and everything was very clean after her stay.
