General overview

The house is warm and welcoming, and a little quirky. We have art and other pieces collected from our travels around the world dotted around giving it an international feel. It's old and beautifully imperfect so would appeal to the more easy going travellers. It's a great space for groups and multigenerational families as it's spread over 4 levels and so everyone has privacy. The location is what our guests value most, it's in a well to do peaceful residential area with big old trees and houses, but still close to lots. Everything you need from restaurants, bars, cafes and live music to supermarkets, bakeries and delis is within 10-20 mins walking distance. We are very close to one of the most beautiful parks in Toronto, High Park, especially famous for its cherry blossoms and Lake Ontario. And if you want to go further afield there are many transit options nearby.

The space

The house is an unusual layout, across 4 levels, with a guest suite (double bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette) in the basement with good height and is well looked after as we rent it out an airbnb. You can see pictures here: On the main floor is one large double bedroom which is my daughter's. Then one floor up there's an open space with kitchen, lounge and dining room and bathroom, this is the area we all hang out in, it has a wonderful large deck in the back looking over big old trees, the neighbours houses and gardens and a smaller deck in the front looking out onto the street. One floor up again is the master bedroom, which can easily accommodate a folding bed (which we can provide) with an ensuite bathroom with a lovely slate shower with a skylight so you can see the sky while showering! The bedroom is very bright with two windows and two skylights, Also has a little nook/corner with a small desk perfect to hide away and catch up on emails, with a view of gardens and trees. There's also a smaller single bedroom on that level (my son's room). Overall the house is peaceful and quiet and spread out so perfect for groups that value privacy.

Guest access

There are a few steps up to the porch and we have a keypad lock on the door so no keys needed.

Notes

There are many stairs so might not be suitable for people with mobility issues or very small children.

Neighbourhood

Our neighberhood is well established with lots of old homes and big old trees. It's peaceful, safe and friendly, lots of families live here. But we are also close to the bustle of the city and there's lots to do in the area. Getting to downtown or out of the city is easy. We are minutes from one of the most beautiful parks in Toronto called Hight Park and a quick drive/hike/bike ride to Lake Ontario with its hiking and cycling trails. Bike rentals are available nearby and so is a car rental place. There's a multitude of restaurants in our area from Sushi, to Thai, Indian, Italian, to Sports Bars and cocktails bars and even a Michelin star restaurant. There's really something for everyone.

Getting to my home

Our home is super easy to get to, if travelling by plane into Pearson or train into Union station there's a fast train called the UP Express that will take you direct to our house, it's cheap and fast and 7 mins walk from our home. Driving is also easy as we are near major arteries in and out of the city. There's parking on the street (a parking permit is required and costs about $40 a week).

Nearest airport

Pearson International is about 20-30 mins away by train or car.

Getting around

We are within distance to many shops, restaurants, supermarkets, cafes, bars, live music, banks, and many forms of transit.
