We would love to welcome you to our home in Denmark - homeland of H.C. Andersen and the vikings! We live in a beautiful little eco village just 25 minutes by train from Copenhagen city.
We live in the historic city Roskilde - former Viking capital.
We are part of a sustainable eco village built in 2000.
We are surrounded by cherry trees, apple trees, berries and chestnut. It is paradise for children to explore safely with no cars and friendly animals to say hello to.
In the village we have a farm shop with all organic vegetables, nuts, cheese, beers, wine, chocolate and much more. It is open two hours a day (not in July though). On site you will find sheep, goats, horses, rabbits - they are not ours, so you will not need to care for them. We have a cat though, that you would have to take good care of 🐈
We have a clean lake on site you can swim in, a playground with basket, trampoline, swings and more. We have bikes for all ages - also electric bikes to take you on a fast trip along the coast. We love everything about our home: social village life, easy access to nature, a wonderful and safe world for children to explore, fast connection to Copenhagen, short distance to Roskilde harbour and Roskilde Fjord. Come and see for yourself!
Our house has room for 6 people (115 m2) and is equipped with everything a family needs. It is made of sustainable materials and has all the things to make your stay comfortable; dishwasher, coffee maker, bathtub etc.
Our home is "Nordic" in style with light wooden floors and beams. We have two private gardens and several green areas that are shared with neighbours.
Don’t hesitate to get in contact and let’s exchange ❤️
The space
Our house has room for 6 people with three bedrooms and one mezzanine. Downstairs we have a kitchen and a living room in one, a bedroom and a "glass house" with a rocking chair. We also have two private gardens or terraces - one in the front of the house and one behind our house. Upstairs we have two bedrooms, one bathroom with a tub and a shower, a living room plus a mezzanine where two people can sleep. All in all we have place for 8 people to sleep in the house, if they don't mind sharing a doublebed.
The house is surrounded by green areas, and though we are close to Copenhagen and Roskilde city centre, it feels like a green sanctuary with no cars.
Guest access
We have a set of stairs, two floors + a mezzanine.
Notes
We have a cat, so be aware if you have allergies.

Getting around
Within walking distance you will find two supermarkets, a pharmacy, two coffee shops, an ice-cream shop and more. We have a free secondhand clothes shop in the village where you are welcome to adopt any item you might like for yourself or your family. The quality is outstanding.
Also we have our own little farm shop in the community that is open 2 hours a day. Here you will find all organic vegetables, soaps, nuts, chocolate, wine, beer, cheese, grains and more.
Sidsel and Jakob’s home is completely magical. The photos don’t do it justice. It’s very scandi chic in its style - comfortable, light with stylish art and a killer coffee maker. The area is unlike anything we’ve experienced - the eco village is so interesting. We loved the safe community vibe, the open spaces for our children to run and play in and fruit picking from the many plum, cherry and apple trees. The house is bike distance from Roskilde Fjord, which was fantastic. We loved swimming in the Fjord, eating pastries at the chic harbour front cafes and learning about the Viking heritage at the incredible museum. The house is well placed for quick day trips into Copenhagen. We went three times during our stay - 25 mins into the city.
I can’t recommend the house more. We had a very memorable holiday. Sidsel and Jakob were warm, easy to communicate with, honest and lovely people.
Dear Hannah and Duncan
Thank you so much for your warm words! We truly enjoyed getting to know you and exchanging homes wit you.
Hope you are all well!
Sidsel, Jakob and family took lovely care of our house whilst we were away. They left sweet notes and even got our kids a little gift. We would definitely recommend them as house guests. Really easy to communicate with.
Hannah and Duncan gave us the best time in Glasgow. Their beautiful and spacious house was a superb setting for exploring Glasgow and the surrounding area. We borrowed their bikes for our whole family and could bike to the amazing nearby parks and great food options in the Shawlands.
The house is well equipped for a family with creative toys and books for all ages. It’s lovely to sit in the garden and enjoy a cup of tea/coffee when the sun is out.
Hannah and Duncan were great hosts who are quick to reply and are just great people. Highly recommended!
They left our house in perfect condition. Great guests.

OPEN TO SWAPS IN 2025
We are a family of five living in Denmark in an eco-village called Munksøgård. Our children are 3, 6, and 11 years old. We had a couple of great exchange experience since 2023. We have many years of experience with renting out our place via other platforms. We love to travel with our children, and find that home exchange makes so much sense and adds a cultural- and a friendship - aspect to the travel that is not found in a hotel.
The village that we live in is a small community where we each have our separate houses, but share large green areas, access to lakes, playground and some warm and beautiful common houses. In the heart of the community is an old farm house where some villagers have horses. Other villagers take care of sheep, goats and rabbits - this means an easy access to experience animals without having to care for them - usually a big plus for children!
We have a wonderful bright house in Denmark, Scandinavia, in Roskilde close to Copenhagen. Easy connection to both Sweden and all of the coastline in North of Zealand. Roskilde is a historical city known for vikings, the fjord, the harbour, the music festival, the 387 year old cathedral and much more.
Our house has room for 6+ people and is equipped with everything a family needs. It is made of sustainable materials. We have a cat that is part of the swap :-)
We are looking for simultaneous swaps or to spend our globe in 2025.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
