General Overview

Our home is located in Wormer, a peaceful and green village north of Amsterdam, surrounded by water, nature, and traditional Dutch landscapes. One of the main highlights of the area is Zaanse Schans, located just 10 minutes by bike. This iconic heritage site offers working windmills, traditional wooden houses, craft workshops, and beautiful walks along the river Zaan. The house is also next to a navigable lake, connected to several canals through typical Dutch locks. It’s a wonderful area for walking and cycling, where you’ll often spot herons, cormorants, ducks, geese, and many other water birds that are very used to people and easy to observe. It’s an ideal place for guests who want to enjoy nature and tranquillity, while still having fast and easy access to Amsterdam!

The Space

This is our main family home, so you’ll find it fully equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The 2-floor house is warm, lived-in, and practical, with plenty of space to relax after a day of exploring. Main bathroom upstairs and toilet in the ground floor have been recently and completely renovated, offering modern comfort while keeping the cosy feel of the house. As gardeners and plant lovers, we have plants throughout the home, creating a fresh and welcoming atmosphere.

Guest Access

The house is arranged over two floors: - Ground floor: fully equipped kitchen, living room, and a half bathroom - Upper floor: bedrooms and a full bathroom Guests will have access to the entire house, garden, and all amenities.

Notes

We have three bicycles available for guests, perfect for exploring the area, visiting Zaanse Schans, or enjoying the many cycling paths around Wormer and the Zaan region. We enjoy culture, music, cooking, and gardening, and we’re always happy to share local tips — and, if you like, a glass of good Spanish wine.

Neighbourhood

Wormer is a quiet, safe, and very green village, ideal for guests who appreciate nature, water, and authentic Dutch daily life. You’ll find walking paths, cycling routes, canals, lakes, and small local shops nearby. Despite the calm atmosphere, larger towns like Zaandam and the city of Amsterdam are very close and easy to reach.

Getting to my home

Nearest airport: Schiphol (Amsterdam Airport) By train: From Schiphol to Wormerveer in approx. 30 minutes or approx. 25 minutes to Amsterdam Centraal. From Wormerveer station, either: 20-minute walk, or 5 minutes by bus, which stops right next to the house

Getting Around

Train: Wormerveer station is a 20-minute walk Bus: Frequent bus from Zaandam stops next to the house Car: About 20 minutes’ drive to P+R Amsterdam Noord, where you can park easily and continue by metro into the city centre This makes the house a perfect base to combine Amsterdam city life with peaceful village living.

Hello everyone. I'm Ricardo, a gardener and yoga teacher. I come from Spain but currently live in Holland. I live with Jorge, my husband, in a two-storey townhouse in Wormerland, on the outskirts of Amsterdam, very close to the famous Zaanse Schans mill district (a World Heritage Site).
