General Overview
Our home is located in Wormer, a peaceful and green Dutch village just north of Amsterdam, surrounded by water, nature and traditional Zaan landscapes.
It is an ideal place for guests who would like to combine Amsterdam with a more authentic and relaxed Dutch experience. From our home, you can enjoy quiet canals, cycling paths, lakes, birds, windmills and village life — while still having quick and easy access to Amsterdam.
One of the highlights of the area is Zaanse Schans, only around 10 minutes away by bike. This iconic heritage area offers working windmills, traditional wooden houses, craft workshops and beautiful walks along the river Zaan.
Our home is also close to navigable water and connected to canals through typical Dutch locks. The area is wonderful for walking, cycling and enjoying nature. Herons, ducks, geese, cormorants and other water birds are often easy to spot nearby.
It is a great base for PLU members who enjoy slow travel, culture, cycling, nature, water landscapes and staying in a real, warm and lived-in home.
The Space
This is our main family home, so it is fully equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The house has two floors and feels warm, practical and lived-in, with plenty of space to relax after a day exploring Amsterdam, Zaanse Schans or the Dutch countryside.
On the ground floor, you will find the living room, dining area, fully equipped kitchen and a recently renovated downstairs toilet. Upstairs, there are the bedrooms and the main bathroom, which has also been recently renovated with a modern walk-in shower.
We love plants and gardening, so you will find many plants throughout the house. They give the home a fresh, calm and welcoming atmosphere. Guests who enjoy warm, personal homes rather than anonymous holiday rentals will probably feel very comfortable here.
There is also a small private garden/terrace, perfect for breakfast, coffee or dinner after a day out.
Guest Access
Guests will have access to the guest bedrooms, the private garden/terrace and all available amenities.
The house is arranged over two floors:
Ground floor: living room, dining area, fully equipped kitchen and downstairs toilet
First floor: bedrooms and main bathroom with walk-in shower
Bedrooms are upstairs, so guests should be comfortable using stairs.
We will provide practical information before arrival, including house instructions, transport tips and local recommendations.
Notes
This is our main home, and we kindly ask guests to treat it with care and respect.
We have three bicycles available for guests, which are perfect for exploring the area, cycling to Zaanse Schans or enjoying the many bike paths around Wormer and the Zaan region.
We love culture, music, food, gardening and local discoveries, and we are always happy to share recommendations. We can suggest easy day trips, quieter places beyond the usual tourist routes, local cafés, restaurants, cycling routes and nice walks by the water.
As we have many plants, we especially appreciate guests who are happy to water them during longer stays.
Our neighbourhood is quiet and residential, so the house is not suitable for parties.
