Neighbourhood
Lyons is known for its local arts and culture. It's a small town tucked away in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, everyone is super friendly and you'll begin to recognize faces quickly as it's so small.
In the summer expect live music almost every night, plenty of festivals, the high street will be buzzing, the rivers that flow through town are known for tubing (we have a tube you can borrow!).
Lyons also has some of the best mountain biking trails around right from our doorstep. You can also hike or run these trails.
If you head further into the Rocky Mountains (20+ mins drive from our place) you can go to the national park and do some incredible hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, climbing or paddle-boarding etc..
The town also has a couple of beautiful playgrounds. Lavern Johnson Park is tucked away into the cliffs and includes a treehouse, zipline, and rivers that twist and turn through the park.
There's a jump track perfect for all ages as well as a skate park.
Enjoy coffee/tea and treats at the local cafes, a meeting point for town people, or a drink at night at the local pizza or outdoor restaurants (that often have live music).
Everything in town is super family-friendly and has a real relaxed vibe.
In the winter you can snowshoe, and sled around the hills near town or head further into the mountains to go backcountry skiing or head to one of the resorts nearby. Rocky Mountain National Park also has some amazing ice climbing if you're into that!

Getting Around
Everything within the town of Lyons is within walking distance. You'll want to do your big shops either in Longmont or Boulder, both are a 20-minute drive away. There are plenty of mountain biking, hiking, and running trails within walking or biking distance from our house. If you would like to venture further into the mountains you will need a car.
There is a free bus service that runs to Boulder from the high-street of Lyons called the Lyons Flyer.
