We only had a few days to travel during the school holidays and originally wanted to go abroad, but then someone recommended Tímeá's house. Honestly, we have been to many places in our country, but this region was left out, so we were happy to go to Balsa. Tímeá's place is very comfortable, we found everything we needed. Communication was also completely seamless. The region is beautiful, the autumn colors impressed me. We went constantly: we were at the zoo, in the bath, we went on a hike, we saw Lake Megyeri, Bridge of National Unity. There were lots of games for the children in the garden. They could feed the chickens. We had a good chat with Tímeá. I warmly recommend visiting them and the region.
Timea’s home in Balsa was nothing short of a little paradise for our family.
From the moment we arrived, our son didn’t want to leave. He happily spent all three days just enjoying the house and garden.
The yard was filled with fruit trees, a beautifully cared-for garden full of Timea’s personal touch, and a treasure trove of fun things for kids: from badminton, scooters, billiards, and pool gear to board games. Every morning, we’d kick off the day playing badminton or tennis right in the yard.
At the heart of it all was the swimming pool, which made our holiday absolutely perfect. Add to that the cutest little dog, Mici, and some chickens freely roaming the garden, it truly felt like an organic, peaceful haven.
When we arrived, Timea welcomed us with a freshly baked Hungarian pie that was so delicious we finished the whole thing in one sitting! As if that wasn’t enough, the welcome gift of Tokaji wine and sweet little strawberries from the garden completely melted our hearts.
The location is also great. Famous Tokaj wineries are just a relaxed 25-minute drive away, and there are several supermarkets within a 10-minute drive. For something quick, there’s a Coop market just 5 minutes away on foot where you can pick up lunch or dinner items easily.
Timea checked in with us every morning and evening to make sure we had everything we needed. We can’t wait to welcome her family to Dubai and return the incredible kindness and hospitality they gave us.
Her home in beautiful Balsa completely gave us some of the best memories of our time in Hungary.
Timea was a wonderful host. She offered us two rooms in her charming guesthouse. Her home was easy to find and there was plenty of room to park our car. Timea greeted us in person with the most delicious langos I have experienced and she offered plenty of recommendations of things to do in the area. There was a communal kitchen which had everything we need and Timea provided coffee for us during our visit. I recommend coming by car as this area in general is much easier to access with a vehicle. We had a BLAST exploring Tokaj and the other towns in the area and of course plenty of wine tasting. I hope more PLU members will experience this beautiful part of the Hungarian countryside. Thanks Timea for a wonderful visit.

Sehee, Kevin and Eisen are my most wonderful guests.
They are very friendly, interested and left my house in impeccable condition.
We recommend them to anyone who wants to exchange with them.
Sehee was always very kind and direct in her messages. She was patient with me, even though I don't speak English and I could only communicate with her slowly, using Google Translate.
I was happy that their eight-year-old son enjoyed using our toys and the pool.
I loved that they noticed and appreciated my garden.
I always worried a lot about whether this area and my house were interesting enough for an exchange home.
This incredibly kind and sympathetic family strengthened me.
I finally realized that people aren't always looking for the most beautiful, the best, and the most amazing place.
Getting to know the diversity of our world can also be a joy.
We would be happy to host them again! 😍🐶
Alyssa spent a short time at my place with two of her friends. They are very kind and friendly. I got the rooms back in perfect order and clean. They looked around the area, in Tokaj and Sárospatak. I hope you had a good time and liked this region! I gladly recommend them!
We had a wonderful week by the ocean. Caroline's apartment is spacious, comfortable and just simply beautiful! The view is incredible, I kept standing in front of the kitchen window! There are great restaurants and cafes within a short walking distance, and we could also buy a variety of delicacies at the nearby market. We traveled a lot. There are countless sights and attractions in the area. We loved Sesimbra, thank you Caroline!

Tímea
We live near the Tokaj wine region, next to the Tisza river, in a quiet, rural environment. We have already organized several successful exchanges (16) and only gained positive experiences. I, Tímea (1970), am an administrator, István (1963) is a civil engineer and our son Áron (2002) is a university student.Usually we travel just the two of us, but sometimes our son also go with us.
The summer is mostly spent with work, we prefer to travel in spring or autumn, so we mainly do not organize simultaneous exchanges.
We welcome our guests in the apartment with three guest rooms on the first floor of our house in Balsa. That floor is for our guests only.
We live on the first floor.
We are also happy to exchange our apartment in downtown Debrecen.
