UPDATE - the house is full for 2024. :-)
---
At the beginning of the 70's my grandfather bought a hill. There was nothing, not even the road to get there...
50 years later this is one of the most wanted corners of Italy, to spend some holidays or to enjoy the magic of a suspended time.
We spend there as much time as we can, but now that we live abroad we are looking for a way to share the magic of this place, with people we value...
The space
Offering direct access to a terrace with sea views, our house consists of a fully equipped kitchen in an open space, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms.
+ a second terrace on the back, where we like to have dinner.
There is WiFi and air-conditioning in all rooms.
Guest access
...ok, this depends on you:
The house is on a hill. You can decide to drive up and down (3 minutes) and pay for the parking when you get to the beach.
Otherwise you can park you car and don't move it for your entire stay.
There is a path walk to get down the hill or you can follow the road. It takes exactly 12 minutes (for a non-sporty 45 years-old guy).
Of course going downhill is one thing, climbing it back at midday is another story...
Myself I do a mix of the two: I move the car mostly when I need to go to the supermarket (there are 3 of them) or when we go to Levanto to spend the evening out.
The house can accomodate up to 2 cars in a private parking, at the same level of the house. 1 step.
Notes
Casa GRANDE MARE is situated between Levanto and Bonassola.
The '5 Terre', the so called 'five lands', are a group of 5 little fishermen' villages: Monterosso, Vernazza, Manarola, Corniglie, Rio Maggiore.
They are well known all over the world (and inspired Disney's movie 'Luca' :-)
You can reach them hiking, by the sea with a mini-ferry boat or by train, in 10 minutes.
At walking distance from the property, you can reach Spiaggia Valle Santa in 10 minutes. This is our favourite, ideal for kids.
Walking 200 more meters you can reach Levanto Beach. This is a sandy beach where you will occasionally meet surfers (depending on the season).
Levanto is a medieval town that became a touristic spot without losing its authenticity. There are uncountable restaurants and any facility you may need. (Including a small hospital, that you will hopefully won't need!)
Renting a bike you can get to Bonassola in 10 minutes, passing trough the tunnels of the old railway, now transformed into a path walk.
On the road you will find different spots where you can have a swim.

Neighbourhood
In short, this place can accomodate any kind of holidays, from the most lazy and easy going to the most sporty one!
If you like hiking you can walk the entire cost going up and down the hills...
If you like fun, ...well you are in Italy... I can point you to my favourite restaurant (in the world!) or to the best pizza you ever tried (I am not joking!)
Levanto is beautiful both during summer and out of season.
Getting to my home
You can reach Levanto by car or by train.
The nearest airports are Pisa 'Galileo Galilei' Airport (it's a Ryanair hub!)
or Genoa 'Cristoforo Colombo' Airport, 93 km
Myself I prefer to land in Milano, where I have several friends. From there you can drive or catch a train to Levanto. (3 hours)
Nearest airport
Pisa, Genova, Milano, Bologna
Getting around
Pisa is one hour south, easy to reach by train or by car. This is a great daily trip!
Genova is one our north. More messy, but famous for its 'aquarium' and little roads.
The lovely small town of Sarzana is at about half an hour driving.
Saint George's Castle is 36 km, Casa Carbone is 45 km.
