Our first sim exchange could not have been a better experience. And it is exclusively due to the calm (we needed that for our first sim exchange), relaxed, inviting, fun and outgoing nature of Terje and Anne-Helen. It was Terje, who read our profile and reached out at the beginning, just to invite us to their home, to experience this community, try out exchanging and let every member of the family examine their feelings afterwards. In the end we did a sim exchange and were lucky enough to meet in advance in Bratislava in person, which was such a good choice. To witness a well-travelled couple and talk about the advantages of opening homes to strangers and memories connected to friends - travelers and the places visited, was encouraging for us. Norway in general is a country to fall in love with, instantly, Holmestrand, and Terje’s apartment a great base for exploring, and if preferred, a place to just relax by the sea or on the terrace and feel like a local. The apartment was high tech, modern, left spotlessly clean by our previous exchangers, well equipped, the bed a heaven, our son wanted to take it home with him. 😊 Terje was beyond helpful in every situation, sending one tip after another and brisk at answers to any of our questions. The possibility to rent their e-bikes and car made the experience heavenly. Within a one week stay, we were able to live among the friendly locals, take a boat trip to a nearby island with fun activities (paddleboarding, trying a fat bike), make a full day hike in the nearby mountains, with astonishing views, barbeque in a local bay, having it for ourselves, traveling to the End of the World and back exploring the vast bike trails, soaking a little bit of history of ironworks and mills in Eidsfoss village, and, most importantly with a teenage boulderer, climbing every rock available, and boy, there were sooo many. And all this on a budget, that we could afford only due to the generosity of our guests. If we would have a possibility to name an embodiment of a PLU spirit in a human being, it would be Terje for sure. Thank you for this amazing opportunity. To everybody undecided, or not sure if this is a way of travel for you, exchange with Terje and Anne-Helen, and you will end up hooked.

It was sad to have to say goodbye to Norway after a fantastic month in Terje & Anne apartment in Holmestrand. We had an amazing time and Terje & Anne were fantastic hosts and two people we now call friends. They went out of their way to make us feel at home and took us out on a couple of adventures during our stay. The apartment is very comfortable, loved the comfy bed, large shower, well set up kitchen with all you would ever need including a lift to the fourth floor. We enjoyed cheese and wine on the 7th floor roof deck with views over the harbour. Terje is a tech wizard and got us connected on our streaming apps. We were situated right in the heart of the small town of Holmestrand with the train station across the street as well as a bus stop. The train is in the tunnel, so you don't hear any noise. The buses and the trains were easy to navigate and after we found them so easy we decided to get adventurous and go for a weekend to Bergen via the Flam railway. Was really easy. We also went via train and plane to Maastricht to see Andre Rieu. For the adventure type who love hiking, kayaking etc. Norway is for you but saying that, for me who was recovering from foot surgery and couldn't walk a lot, the transport system was great. The weather was mid-twenties, and we only had one day of rain. A perfect holiday with perfect hosts, in a perfect setting. Thank you again Terje & Anne

Apartment of Terje is well located in the centre of Holmestrand, few steps away is train station and bus stop just downstairs, there are several groceries, cafes, pub and restaurant very nearby, live in here you are totally safe, dish wash machine and laundry machine TV, coffee machine, oven induction and other electronic appliances all equipped, heating system works very well even with shower, everyday after meal i always take a walk by the seaside, sometimes to do little excises climb up me train station you have a good view of harbour, I can imagine having a beer and watch stars on the rooftop terrace with the one you love is the best scene of your holiday. Terje and Helen are super kind and generous host, I am almost fell in love with them, I am so lucky to meet them, they even came to train station to pick me up in the heavy snowing night. A big shout loudly Thank you Terje and Helen, see you again with my love.

We spent six wonderful days in Terje’s cozy and comfortable house with a nice terrace on top from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the bay. The whole area around Oslo fyord is super. In particular, we want to underline the great hospitality we got from our friendly and helpful hosts who supported us all the time. In conclusion, top experience in Norway that we will never forget.

We had a fantastic time in Holmestrand in Terje and Anna - Hélène's apartment. The location was ideal with so many places of natural beauty to explore close by. We were there over the summer and had many walks, picnics and swims. The apartment itself is luxuriously furnished and very convenient in every way. It all worked seamlessly. My daughters loved the movable beds and the huge television (not something we have at home ;-). The communication with Terje and Anna-Hélène has been very warm and easy and the invitation to come and have dinner at their summer cabin was a real treat. What lovely people, it makes me proud to be a fellow European!

Where is Holmestrand and what is there to see or do? We didnt know, but I'm glad we decided to find out! Terje and Anne's condo is right by the Holmestrand marina. Restaurants, shopping, cafes are nearby downstairs, and we were able to walk everywhere. The condo was comfortable and we slept like babies there. You will need a vehicle to see more of the towns around Holmestrand. It's supposed to be easy to go into Oslo from the Holmestrand station (across the street), but they were doing track work, so we ended up completely bypassing the capital. Instead, we visited the nearby towns which all had their own vibes. The Norwegian summer in the countryside and by the water is truly something special. And finally, it should be noted that they are one of the rare hosts that you will always remember. Generous and gracious. We implore them to allow us to return their hospitality one day at our home!

Terje has to be one of the most generous, friendly, and helpful hosts we have ever exchanged with. Communication prior to our exchange was excellent and continued throughout our time at his home. He went above and beyond at every point, from picking us up at the ferry and driving us to the apartment, to helping us get settled in, to providing a variety of maps and other local tips, to offering the use of his ebikes and other items, and even inviting us to visit his family at their secondary home. The apartment in Holmestrand was excellent. It is well located just steps from the waterfront as well as many shops, restaurants, and services. Our family of two adults and two children had plenty of space. We would not hesitate to recommend Terje as an exchange partner and look forward his family visiting us at our home some day soon.

Terje is a host who goes far beyond average hospitality. A very warm communication and lots of tips given both before as well as during the stay. The apartment is new and provides everything. Holmestrand is near sea, mountains, capital Oslo. We enjoyed a winter holiday. We had a wonderful time at Terje and Helen’s home! It is cozy and comfortable, and the location is amazing. The apartment is right next to a beautiful marina with sailboats, a couple small beaches, convenient supermarkets, a train station (with no sound because it's built into the mountain), a great gym with a very friendly owner, and everything else we might have needed. The communication with Terje was spectacular ever since we first connected and arranged the exchange. He was very responsive and proactive, sharing great ideas for fun things to do nearby to feel like a local. We took advantage of these opportunities and we’re so glad we did! It helped us really understand the Norwegian culture and everyone we met was very friendly and nice. Terje & Helen were very kind to let us use their bikes and car, which opened up all kinds of exploration and adventures for us: A Viking Museum and ships in nearby towns, Oslo, a fantastic Naval Museum with a real submarine you can walk inside and much more. A highlight of our stay was Terje and Helen inviting us to visit them at their summer cabin and showing us around the beautiful nature spots with amazing views and then treating us to a delicious traditional Norwegian meal. We really enjoyed our awesome Norwegian adventure!

Holmestrand was actually my favorite part of my 27 day stay in Norway. The town is beautiful, right on the fjord. Terje had a couple of E-bikes that we took out a couple of times to explore a neighboring town. We also loved walking up on the ridge where the views are amazing. We often went to his rooftop patio for a glass of wine and enjoy the view. As for Terje, he was the nicest guy ever! He was there to meet our train and when we didn’t get off that train in time, he graciously went to the next train stop to meet us. He was so welcoming and kind. He made several suggestions about sites to see and let us use his car to travel there. He helped us so much and we really appreciated him. His home had everything we needed and we slept very well in the comfy bed.

So nice and warm welcome I could not even wish for. Terje accepted my request on laste minute exchange and welcomed us perfectly. In their home we had everything we needed. The apartment is in the center, very near to the grocery shop and other shops and also close to the coast. It is equipped with everything you will need and more. The whole time of our stay and before our stay, Terje was on our disposal wiht useful information, suggestion on what to do and see. He and his wife were great hosts, for every recommendation. We loved our firs PLU swap thanks to those wonderful people.
