General overview
We have two properties that are available for exchange in two very different but beautiful properties in Canada. One is in Halifax Nova Scotia and one is in Val des Monts, Quebec. The first 10 pictures are of the Halifax House and thr second 10 pictures are of the Quebec Chalet .
Halifax Home :
We own a beautiful Victorian townhome in a residential urban neighbourhood. The home has been meticulously restored and retains many of its original features combined with many modern amenities.
It has 3 large bedrooms and 1 smaller double room. It has two full bathrooms, one has a very large bathroom with a stand alone shower and a period clawfoot tub.
The location of the home is perfect as it is walking distance to the bustling harbourfront filled with bars, restaurants and scenic sites. The grocery store and the liquor store are a quick 2 minute walk from the home.
There is also a small outdoor area with patio furniture to enjoy coffee or a cocktail when your day of sightseeing is over.
Quebec Chalet :
We also own a four season chalet approximately 35 mins from Canada's capital city of Ottawa . It is a 4 bedroom ( one bedroom has double bunk beds and a pull out trundle bed ) and 2 bathrooms. We have a beautiful 2 story fireplace in the centre of the main floor living space . The cottage is waterfront but is nestled up high so views are gorgeous but there are 60 ish stairs to access the dock and kayaks etc. There are a few rest stops if needed lol. There is a firepit as well. The water in the lake is clean and swimming is a favourite activity.
The space
Halifax Home:
The house has been remodeled but retains a Victorian feel . The living , dining and kitchen are open although there are huge pocket doors to separate the living and dining areas if wanted . There are high end finishes ( granite , heated floors rtc ) but it is a comfortable and convenient for exploring the city .
Quebec Chalet:
The chalet is situated in a private wooded setting although there are neigbours on the road . The chalet has a more casual feeling as it is our family's recreational property and is designed to be fun. It has all amenities needed including Wifi and TV if wanted but there are also games, books and kayaks to use . There is also a firepit if you want to make smores!
Guest access
Halifax, Nova Scotia Home: There are three floors to the home . The first floor has the living , dining and kitchen area. The backyard patio is accessed through the dining room.
The second level has three bedrooms and a bathroom and the third level has a bedroom, large spa like bath and laundry facilities.
Quebec Home: The house opens into the entryway and on this floor there is a large open concept living room, family room and dining room. There are two bedrooms on this floor and a full bathroom with walk in shower. Laundry facilities are on this floor as well .
The highlight of the this space is a two story stone fireplace that is double sided.
There are two additional bedrooms and a full bathroom upstairs, as well as a library wall filled with books.
Guests should know that there are 60 ish steps down to the water and dock ( and back up!) There is a small road that can be walked down to access is as well.
Notes
Halifax is the bustling colourful largest city in Nova Scotia which is considered eastern Canada. The east coast has a very unique culture and a stunning landscape . The property is nestled in the most popular south end district of Halifax which is a vibrant Port city for the Canadian Navy and cruise lines.
The downtown is the harbourfront and it sits on a peninsula so water views abound.
It is a city filled with live music, excellent food and charismatic and friendly East Coast people.
Quebec is a beautiful province that is rich in culture. The official language is French but many people are bilingual ( French and English) This property is a 4 season chalet and is 15 mins drive from the nearest ski hill and 20 mins drive to the second ski hill that is nestled in the most picturesque town filled with delicious food, small pubs and artisan shops. The property is also conveniently located only 35 mins from Canada's capital city , Ottawa which is in the province of Ontario . This property can be enjoyed all year round with lake activities in the summer (swimming , kayaking, bon fires) and in the winter ( skiing, tubing etc)

Neighbourhood
Halifax Home : is in an urban residential area with food shops ( grocery stores) and a liquor stores a 2 min walk away. It is a 15-20 min walk to the gorgeous bustling Harbourfront. Walking is the perfect way to explore the downtown but if you rent a car , there are numerous picture perfect colourful towns and regions to visit nearby.
Quebec Chalet:
The chalet in nestled on Lac St Pierre and has lovely views of the water and trees across the bay. There are 4 other homes on our road with 3 out of 4 of our wonderful neighbours living there fulltime. We are a 20 min drive from my favourite little town in Quebec ( Wakefield). Wakefield has a number of specialty shops, a grocery store. pharmacy , restaurants and a gorgeous inn with spa. You can book spa treatments even if you do not stay at the inn. There is also a grocery store and 2 restaurants ( one pub , one pizza place 3 kms from the chalet)
Getting to my home
Halifax Home :
There is an airport approximately 25-30 mins from the downtown area and the Halifax house. Taxis and ubers are available at the airport if you plan on walking everywhere but you can also rent a car at the airport. There is one parking spot that comes with the house.
Quebec Chalet:
One needs a car to access the chalet as it is in cottage country . No public transit access The chalet is on a gravel road that is maintained regularly ( snow removal)
The nearest airport would be in Ottawa , Ontario where one would rent a car and drive approximately 1 hour to the cottage ( depending on weather and traffic)

We are recent empty nesters from Canada who are looking to travel and explore the world. We have 3 adult children, one who is working and two who are post secondary students. We love to travel as a family when our schedules align. We have two furry members of our family, Millie and Rosie who help make our house a home.
