General overview

Located in Hout Bay, a hidden gem seaside suburb from Cape Town, our lovely apartment has sea views and worderful mountain views, i.e. Chapmans Peak, Karbonkelberg and The Sentinel. Walking distance to the beach, mall, supermarkts, shops and restaurants makes all very easy going. Beach (450 m), Mall (350 m) and supermarkts (Woolworth 350 m, Pick & Pay 450 m and Checkers 550m) and lovely shops - all in walking distance. Distance to: Chapman’ Peak Drive = 1,1 km Table Mountain = 10 km Hout Bay Harbour = 2,8 km Camps Bay = 10 km Llandudno Beach = 4 km Constantia = 6 km Victoria&AlfredWaterfront=16 km Cape Town downtown = 20 km Cape Town Airport = 31 km With a rental car - what is quite affordable - you can get to all tourist attractions very easily - from Table mountain, to Roben Island, chapmans Peak Drive, Constantia Wineries and so many others. Great food and perfect wine everywhere. My list of suggestions for great restaurants is very long.🤩 Cycling, hiking and water sports - all in Hout Bay and neighborhood. For the ones on remote work 100 Mbps/100 Mbps available.

The space

The apartment fits 4 people with 2 bedrooms with 2 single beds each. Placed together the beds make 1 king size bed per room. 2 bathrooms, an open plan kitchen and a balcony with a table, 4 chairs and a grill invites all guests to enjoy the beautiful sundowners. The en-suite bedroom has a small balcony with nice views too. No stress when leaning our place too. We have a cleaning lady who cares that the apartment is completely ready for the next guests including doing all the laundry and ironing. She gets ca. €20,00 (twenty Euros) in South African Rands which we kindly ask you to pay her when leaving. Two parking spaces are available.

Guest access

From the garage you have to take a flight of stairs to reach the entrance of the building and again 2 flights of stairs to reach the first floor (remember sea views). The apartment does not suit disabled guests. No indoor smoking please. Unfortunateley, no pets.

  • We had such a lovely time in Elza's apartment! What a great location, with beautiful views of the ocean and mountains. Really breathtaking to wake up to every morning. The apartment itself is very comfortable and complete: it really has everything you need, also for a longer stay. We stay there almost two weeks with two toddlers and it worked out really well. Hout Bay is a lovely area, with lots to do for both kids and grown-ups. Walking distance to the beach, grocery shops and some nice restaurants. We felt very safe walking around at day time. The communication with Elza was also flawless and she helped a lot with good tips etc. Cape Town has been amazing and we cannot wait to return!

  • Thank you Elza for the wonderful 10-day stay in your comfy condo. We hardly wanted to leave! We appreciated the fully equipped kitchen and all the little touches you've added that made us feel at home. The view from the balcony was so peaceful and green, and we were entertained by watching the cars going up and down Chapman's Peak Road in the distance. We drove it multiple times ourselves to visit the beaches and towns on the other side of the peninsula- sooo special! ( Oh, and we saw those "blue chickens" strolling by every evening, just as you said!) Thanks too for all your local tips - we did the seal boat tour and tried many of the restaurants you suggested - all great. We loved walking around the local working harbour - refreshing to feel that we were in a real community rather than simply a tourist town. We walked to the little mall and grocery stores and found the "Collective" harvest table restaurant which we went back to for several delicious lunches. You have a gem of a place! We look forward to seeing you two in Ottawa in July.

We are a semi retired, multi cultural couple (I am Brazilian and my husband is German) and we are based in Munich. We love to travel within Europe and around the world. From camping to luxus - we like to move around, visit other countries, meet new people, different cultures and food - yes, I love to cook and we try different foods! Basically it is only the 2 of us so that we do not need much space, but if you have, we take it! We have a lovely 2 bedroom apartment in Cape Town that we offer in exchange for your place.
