General Overview

Welcome to our Home , a farmers barn renovated early 2000. ln a small village on the River Wurm, with it’s historical bridge.

The Space

The living area is dominated by the central staircase over 3 floors and glass windows looking out onto the fields. We have lots of space but in actual fact we have few rooms. The entrance is above street level, with a large open space , with dining area, couch, and wood burning stove for cold winter evenings, with a well equipped kitchen , which looks out onto the herb garden. The 2nd bedroom, with a single bed, 80 cm, that pulls out into a double bed 160 cm, with adjacent bathroom, goes off from this floor. Upstairs we have a master bedroom, (Bed is 180 cm made up with 2 separate mattresses , meaning you don't roll to the middle !) with a door onto the Terrace, a bathroom with bath tub and shower. One of our favorite spots is the gallery, looking out to the terrace. When the weather allows we eat most of our meals outside and enjoy our easy maintenance garden. Thanks to the way the House is designed, it’s cool in the summer, on the few scorching days we have, by the time we’re wanting to sleep the bedrooms have cooled down. In the winter we sit in the Gallery , looking out into the garden. We have a portable fan, if needed. On the top floor we have mainly storage, but our Grandchildren love to play with the few toys that are still in the house from our Children. This is the 3rd bedroom, with a mattress on the floor, there is room for another mattress if needed. We have a child’s high chair, but no baby bed. The house isn’t really stocked up for small children, but our Young Grandchildren come and visit so we have a few things to play with. We have a no smoking and no pet house. Smoking is only allowed outside. During your exchange we will close off our hobby rooms, one up in the attic, and one in the Celler.

Guest Access

We have a lot of stairs in the house.

Notes

There is public transport in the village, but it is definitely easier with your own Transport. You can use our e bikes, if we don’t take them with us. Stuttgart airport is 25 mins away in the car and about 90 mins with public transport.

Neighbourhood

The next supermarket is about 2km away. If countryside is what you are looking for, look no further, there are many hike trails right outside the door. If it’s city’s that you are wanting, Stuttgart and the Barock town of Ludwigsburg are just 30 mins away, Karlsruhe is also around 40 mins in the car. Tübingen and Heidelberg are also easily reached for a day trip. We are on the edge of the Blackforest , there are many activities on offer for all age groups . Dont forget the Blackforest Gateux! if Cars are your thing, Porsche Museum is 20 mins away, and Mercedes is also close. There are a few Golf Courses rather close. I think Germany in general is known for its good Bread, not in our village but close by, are good bakeries with fresh Bread and amazing pastries. . On a hot summers day it’s very pleasant to go into the river , and at least get your feet wet. The village children play in the shallow water. If you have a fishing license you might get lucky and catch a fish. We also have friendly neighbors,
