General overview
We live in the funky little suburb of Spreydon, in and around Addington Village, which has cafes/shops/restaurants/pubs. And we're just a five minute drive (or forty minute walk) into the central city. Christchurch is directly (and easily) connected to the main arteries of the South Island, such as Queenstown, Nelson, the West Coast, Akaroa nad Hanmer Springs. Mountains, skiing, surfing all accessible from our home - in fact you could do all three in one day if you were organised enough! Chrisrtchurch is a 'city' techincally, but definitelty has a small town feel and we love the area we're in - thats why we've been in this house since 2011.
The space
The house is on a quite tree lined leafy street with a view of the Cashmere Hills one side, and the Southern Apls on the other. We've done a complete renovation on this 1920's villa to give it a more modern facelift, but we've tried really hard to retain all the character and charm. The space itself feels light and airy, and there's two wood buring fires (one in the living room, one in the main bedroom) which keeps this place toasty warm in winter and two heat pumps (living room/entrance hallway) which keeps it nice and cool in summer. The little cottage box graden has a 'we're not in a city right now' feel and we have a few different BBQ options for guests to use! We love our house, and we think any future guests will too.
Guest access
Single story period villa bungalow with two steps up the main bright pink entrance door. No disabled access, or features inside, I'm afraid. We have a full security system (zoned for house/garage and three external security cameras) and an external lock box for spare guest keys.
Notes
Hot water is on a gas system - we always have at least one full 90Kg bottle (dual bottle system). Smeg gas cooker in the kitchen too. We also have a stocked pantry/fridge, which of course we're happy to see being used by future guests. We are both avid home cooks and there's so many cook books lying around that will be sure to give guests some inspiration when staying at Hineoma Street.

Neighbourhood
Everything you need - Addington Village has shops, cafes, take aways, sit-in restaurants, etc. We're also a five minute walk to the stadium where the world famous Crusaders play all their home Super Rugby games. Riccarton is a stones throw away, where you'll find a huge mall, more shops, lots more restaurants and a stunning old homestead where the Saturday markets are hard to beat for setting and options.
Getting to my home
We're a fifteen minute drive from Christchurch Aiport. And Spreydon is a motorway exit on the new dual carriageway that takes you directly to Hinemoa Street.
Nearest airport
Christchurch International Airport (CIAL) is a fifteen minute drive from our front door.
Getting around
Our house is a two minute drive, or fifteen minute walk to Barrington Mall. This mall has a Freshchoice supermarket, Butchers, Bakeries, Off License, Banks, Phone Shop, Pharmacy & everything else you could possible need. But there's New World/Countdown supermarkets all around us and getting to/from shops from our place either on foot (or by car - we're happy for guests to use our VW Golf GTi).
The Walsh Family! Where Irish and English combine and make beautiful Kiwi babies. Well, she's no longer a baby, but you get the gist 😃. Living on the beautiful South Island of New Zealand, Christchurch, we have an established consultancy based business, but Wayne also makes the most incredible knives using recycled skateboards. Miss 7 (Harper) enjoys walks into the city with our two beautiful dogs (Lola and Hildee) to explore what the city has to offer, but mostly to go to the playground, followed by a lemonade and chips at at pub 😀
