Great comfortable home. Heritage features and well-appointed finishes, while being our young family home. The oldest house in a very friendly street.
A little Burmese cat called Engine and three low maintenance chickens to keep you company.
It is a freshly painted well-maintained older family home and our special urban oasis, open for you and your guests to enjoy.
The Space
Three-bedroom 1890s house. Great entertainers' kitchen, that spills onto back veranda. Great stainless steel infra-red bbq with tables and chairs to look over the mature avocado, orange and paperbark trees. Cheese boards, wine or candle lit dinners are welcome here.
Main bedroom has brand new posturepedic queen mattress and base.. In total number of beds are: Queen with en suite in main room and a single king bed in each of the other rooms. Beautiful original stain glass windows throughout.
The gardens are all native, with vegetables in front garden available at different times of the year. We are actively moving towards plant species to sustain local wildlife, so you won’t find lawns here.
Help yourselves to a fire pit with plenty of wood under house or take the kayaks out on the river.
Guest Access
Level home though stairs down to backyard and fire pit. One step to enter into home at front. Fully fenced and very safe area. Google door nest security.
Notes
We have a manual for our guests with notes on local markets, galleries, cafes and walks and transport options.
Really recommend you take our kayaks down to Goolay’yari (Cooks river) launch for paddle.
Also strongly encourage wanders down the river to Marrickville golf club or Concordia, German restaurant for lunch / dinner.
Photos of the house are a guide. The vanity in bathroom has been painted and the floor on back veranda is scheduled for upgrade. This is the home of a young family, so plenty of games, possibly Lego pieces and loads of books.

We loved our stay at Cara's. Cara's home was very comfortable, neat & tidy. Cara was amazing with communication and made our family feel really welcomed into her home. We would happily visit again if we find our way back to Sydney in the future.
Thanks Bek. We’ll be ready and waiting!
We had a lovely week at Cara,s home,it is so well placed for anyone who wants to explore Sydney with all the public transport very close by .We looked after Engine ,the most adorable cat. We had excellent communication between us with all the information we needed and we were welcomed with wine and fruit and vegetables as a welcome gift ,so thoughtful .
Thanks Kay and John, we loved having you in our home. And adored staying in your home too. Got lots of inspiration for the garden, kitchen and shed! Happy to swap any time
Thank you Cara and family, I'm glad you were able to fully enjoy your holidays.
Sometimes the unexpected can happen, but the important thing is to solve it and I did it 👌. You will always be welcome in Tuscany.
Cara and her family left our home in a clean and tidy condition with plants watered and a lovely vase of flowers left as a thank you, it was a pleasure to have Cara and family staying in our home
We loved having Bek, Dan and their great kids in our home. They left it in tip top condition, and even left gifts for us. How naughty! 😀 we could feel they cared for our home and animals, as they would their own.
Communication was great, and we would welcome them back in a heart beat.
We had a lovely time in Fannys home with Jack. While it’s not a stand alone home, but one of three units, it was a comfortable and quiet get away. We had incredible sunsets and sunrises, across the valley and vineyard. Fanny was more than attentive, even offering to cook for us on the first night and even with a tricky moment with a neighbour, smoothed everything so we could just enjoy the break. We’d welcome fanny to our home in a heartbeat.
We loved staying in Kaye and Johns cute as a button home, with walking distance to the most stunning beaches and inlets, 15min drive to Bellingen and then 45min to Dorrigo via Waterfall way for very special rainforest bush walks. Can’t recommend enough for the global or local traveller!
Great exchange. Lots of great early communication and clear expectations. Ours is a living breathing family home and Kaye, John and their friends treated it very well.

My wife and I have two small boys- 9 and 11. We’re an active family. We love hiking, fishing, looking after wildlife and sometimes just chilling out with books and the Nintendo. Our house tells the story of comfort, convenience and love of being ensconced in our own tranquil getaway, right in the middle of Sydney, Australia.
Tucked in behind the Goolay’yari (Cooks) river, we have light rail, metro and Greenway (2026) and bus options to get you everywhere. the village shops are 5 minute walk away, with many great bars, cafes, book stores and diverse cuisine options. Our neighbours are terrific and we’ll leave you with creature comforts. It’s very quiet but five minute walk to all the global city action. We’re also building a small guest house early next year out the back with two bedrooms, potentially sleeping 6 so keep an eye out. Concept shots in the photo album.
We’re planning a trip to Japan in 2026.
