Neighbourhood

The Glebe is a ''15-minute neighbourhood'' - easy walking from our door to great restaurants, shops, grocery and liquor stores. Walk to Lansdowne Park with its cinemas, stadium (hockey, football, music events) and week-end farmers market in summer, skating rink in winter. We're just a few minutes walk to large public green spaces including Dow's Lake on the UNESCO World Heritage Rideau Canal - great for strolling, canoeing, kayaking, or winter skating. Cycle along dedicated bike paths or walk 30 minutes to the central business district, Parliament Hill, National Arts Centre, National Gallery, Byward Market... and the bridge across the Ottawa River to Gatineau, Quebec. Mais oui!

Melanie

We both had professional careers in international affairs and now enjoy life working part-time, volunteering locally and travelling. We raised our family in Canada, Indonesia and Spain, and Ottawa remains our beloved home base. We enjoy exploring locally as much as farther afield. We're outdoors enthusiasts (camping, wilderness canoeing, skiing, motorcycling) and have had some fabulous cross-country road trips in our truck-camper. We usually seek the road-less-travelled, and enjoy meeting new people, learning about other cultures, history, arts, food & wine, literature and language.
