Neighbourhood
Berlin is a wonderful city, with so much history and life!
We live in a well-connected area in the smack middle of Berlin, where several useful bus lines pass by less than 200 meters away. The neighborhood is a quiet corner of the Tiergarten area, and a short walking distance from e.g. the Berlin Zoo (10 minutes away by foot), the huge department store KaDeWe (5-10 minutes by foot), and the Kudamm, with all its shops as well as the Memorial Church. 5-10 minutes away by foot is also the nearest U-Bahn station (Wittenbergplatz), where three of the main lines of the Berlin underground network meet. To the other side we have the large Tiergarten park with nice opportunities to explore the city and its nature by foot.
One of the bus lines passing by at the end of the street is the 100, which takes a spectacular route through the most famous locations of the city, including the Victory Column, Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden, and the Alexanderplatz with the iconic TV tower, one of the tallest freestanding structures in Europe.
The closest supermarket is right on the other side of the street and there are many cafes, bars and restaurants closeby.
Berlin is a bustling metropolis with all the opportunities a big city has to offer, and it has undergone both several facelifts and architectural changes over the course of the years. Most notably, of course, when it became one city again after having been divided by the Berlin Wall for over 25 years and a hot spot during the Cold War. Since the Wall came down, the city has been in constant development, and currently assumes a position as a hip, trendy European capital, which combines a laid-back lifestyle with the fast-paced big city atmosphere. It is rife with both cultural and historical sites that underlines what a huge importance Berlin has had for European history.

We are a Danish-Italian family of five (with four year old twins and a six year old). We love travelling, exploring, eating good food and making nice memories :)
We're mostly bound to Berlin school holidays, but might be able to make it work at other times occasionally. Just ask us. :)
One of us is allergic to cats, so we'd rather not stay in homes with pets.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
