General overview
Our home is in a small Swiss village, approx 800 inhabitants. We are in an older building nestled amongst the fields. Our terrace overlooks the neighbourhood farm, we have their apple & pear orchards and grape vines on one side, and you can watch the harvesting crops in the right season.
Nearby farms have fields of horses and cows, so if you like being in nature, this is the place for you. There are beautiful countryside walks in the fields around, towards the Jura mountain range. On a clear day, the lake and Mont Blanc can be seen as well.
The bonus is that we are 7 mins away by car to Nyon, the nearest town, so you are not isolated in the countryside at all. Bus stop is across the street from the apartment.
Use of car in underground parking may be available on request (let’s discuss).
Directly across the street is a restaurant that is usually open Wednesdays to Sundays.
We are 1km away from a commercial centre with large grocery store, pharmacy, clothing and sports stores.
20 mins by car to Geneva airport.
Bus route connects to Nyon train station with trains to Geneva airport and all main towns in Switzerland.
The space
Our apartment is a duplex with 2 floors. On the lower floor, you will find the main living space (kitchen, dining area and lounge) leading out onto a terrace with bbq.
There is also a bathroom with shower / toilet and a room that can either be used as a dedicated office space with a single bed, or a 2nd bedroom with full double bed.
Upstairs you will find the main bedroom with double bed, bathroom with bathtub / shower / toilet and laundry room with washer / dryer.
We do not usually have a TV as we tend to use our devices for screens when we need to, however if you would like to have a TV set up for your stay we can arrange this.
Guest access
To access our apartment there are 3 easy flights of stairs. There is no elevator access.
Notes
Transport in Switzerland is excellent, there is a bus stop directly outside out apartment which links to the main train station where you can travel the whole of Switzerland.
It is calm and peaceful where we live and the countryside is a real delight. Equally, we are only a 7 minute drive from the centre of town which has a beautiful chateau and direct access onto the lake where you can stroll or just wander around the various boutique shops or got for a bite to eat at one of the many eateries.

Neighbourhood
You will find an abundance of nature therefore if you like cycling, walking, hiking you couldn't be in a better location. We are surrounded by rural countryside with farms and small Swiss villages to pass through. If you take a bottle with you, you can even purchase fresh milk from the farm vending machines which is a nice experience. They also sell cheese and other dairy products too.
The Signy centre is a 10 minute walk or 3 minute drive from the apartment and is a modern yet small commercial centre with quite a few shops and importantly a large COOP supermarket so you can buy all your provisions from here without issue.
Getting to my home
There is a bus from the train station to Signy which drops you right outside our apartment building otherwise it is a very easy drive and is located just off the motorway and in the village of Signy-Avenex.

Getting around
We can possibly loan you our car (to be discussed). Otherwise the transport system in Switzerland is one if not the best in the world. Everything works like clockwork around here (forgive the pun).
Car hire is also available and is probably easiest to arrange at the airport in advance.

Mike and Brigitte
We are adventure travelers and love to visit new places around the world whilst participating and competing in Triathlon (Mike). We have used Triathlon as a way to see parts of the world that we might not otherwise be tempted to visit. We also have family in Australia so try and get to see them at least once each year during Europe's colder months Nov-Feb.
We also have two teenage girls who live in the UK and like to travel with them from time to time although they have their own lives now so they travel less and less with us these days.
We are easy going, caring people and like to make connections with people and build relationships wherever we can. We are clean, tidy and take a sense of pride in all that we do so you can rest assured your home is in very good hands. Equally, when you come to stay at our place you will have a nice clean home with everything you need to have an enjoyable stay.
