General overview

Our south facing home with lots of natural sunlight is a 3 bed 3 bath single level house on 4 acres on a hill in a quiet rural neighborhood outside of the small town of Carbondale, in the western Colorado Rockies. It has incredible views of Mt. Sopris and the Roaring Fork valley. A native natural landscape surrounds the house with raised organic vegetable and flower gardens, a large patio and deck for relaxing or entertaining. It’s a short walk or cycle down our hill to the Rio grande trail that follows the Roaring Fork River up and down the valley from Aspen to Glenwood Springs.

The space

The house has an open plan living, kitchen and dining space with sliding glass doors that leads outside to a deck with a dining table and chairs and views of Mt. sopris. To the side of the house is a large patio with a bbq, a tall propane heater for chilly evenings, lots of chairs and tables for entertaining. Below the deck is another small patio which leads into the raised organic vegetable and flower garden area. The master bedroom has a king bed, a walk in closet, en-suite bathroom with his and her sinks , a jacuzzi bath tub and shower. The second bedroom is the largest of the three with a queen bed, study/work space, a futon couch that can covert to an extra double bed, a large closet and a tv. It has a full bathroom with toilet and shower separated from the vanity sink. This bathroom is also accessed by the living room. The third bedroom is part of a self contained living space that includes a living room/kitchenette and bathroom. It has its own outside entrance but is still connected to the main house through a short hallway with a door. The bedroom has a double bed with a built in closet. The living room /kitchenette has a couch, tv, microwave, full size refrigerator/ freezer, a sink and a countertop dining area.

Guest access

Fiona and Gary

We are a married couple. Fiona, originally from Ireland, a private chef and Gary American retired from the medical field with two adult daughters that have long left the nest but occasionally may join us on a family vacation. Sometimes we might invite a friend along on our travels.. We like to travel during our winter/early spring to somewhere warm or to the southern hemisphere for an extended period of time. Long term swaps are always welcome between Jan - April. We also like to visit family in Ireland, The Netherlands and New Zealand. However we are open to swapping anywhere, anytime so don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We are not fussy about the size of the house or it’s amenities instead we focus on the destination and the friendships made along the way.
