Neighbourhood

Our place is located in between Prague´s two most popular neighbourhoods called Zizkov and Vinohrady built around 1900. The historical centre is about 20 minutes away by a direct tram (or metro) ride (the stops are a few blocks away). If you prefer walking, you can also reach the main sights on foot across a nice park. Our area is full of trendy cafes, restaurants (Vietnamese, Japanese, Peruvian, Mexican, Ethiopian, Argentinian, Korean, Italian etc.) shops, galleries, clubs, theaters, parks etc. It´s one of most popular, vibrant areas of Prague to live in for young people and families, both Czech and from abroad. The nearby popular square Jiriho z Podebrad locates amazing cafes, bakeries and restaurants and there is a farmer´s market 4 times a week (except in the winter).

Nearest airport

Václav Havel Airport (about 20-30 minutes by taxi) or up to 45 minutes by public transportation.

Getting Around

Shops, cafes, restaurants, parks - everything is just a few minutes on foot, the tram and metro stops are very close as well (metro Jiřího z Poděbrad, trams 5, 15, 9, 26 - Lipanska tram stop). You can reach the city centre (e.g. the Wenceslas Square) on foot in about 20-30 minutes (you can walk across a lovely park Riegrovy sady), by public transportation in about 15-20 minutes (you can take the metro or the tram).

I’m Czech and my husband, Brian, is American. I work at NYU Prague, where I take care of our students, and my husband is a journalist covering Africa. Now that our three children are no longer small, we’re excited to travel more often—especially for long weekends, longer summer stays, and Christmas holidays. Ideally, we’re looking for exchanges within Europe, but we’re open to any ideas! We treat other people’s homes with the utmost care and respect and trust that guests will do the same when staying in ours. We’ve had only wonderful experiences exchanging through PLU and honestly don’t want to travel any other way anymore! I love preparing our home for visitors and adding little seasonal or holiday touches. I also love making new PLU friends! As a passionate Prague local, I know the city inside out and would be very happy to be your virtual tour guide. I can also connect you with some of our amazing friends who offer unique, off-the-beaten-path tours. While you’re in Prague, we highly recommend exploring some of the other beautiful Czech towns, such as Český Krumlov, Kutná Hora, Karlovy Vary, or Tábor. We have three children: Frankie (18), Teo (20), and Oskar (23), but our travel group changes from trip to trip. Sometimes our sons’ girlfriends or members of my extended family join us, and sometimes our children join us for only part of the stay. We look forward to hearing from you! We try to keep our calendar up-to-date and try to make as much time available as possible but the availability depends on many aspects, so please feel free to contact us and we will see if we can do it. We always try our best but we are still partially tied to school holidays and our boys do not always want to travel with us any more. :)
