General Overview

We live in a cozy family home in Bethesda, Maryland, just outside Washington, DC. It’s a great spot for exploring everything DC has to offer while still having a quiet place to come home to at the end of the day.

We’re about a 10-minute drive from downtown Bethesda, with lots of restaurants, shops and cafés, and about 25 minutes from downtown DC. We love being able to spend the day visiting the Smithsonian museums, monuments and different DC neighborhoods, then escape the city when we get home. Rock Creek Park is also nearby and is great for walking, biking and getting outside.

We’re happy to consider a car swap as part of an exchange, which makes it really easy to explore DC as well as Maryland and Virginia.

This is our everyday family home, and we hope you’ll settle in, relax and feel at home while you’re here.

The Space

Our home is comfortable, relaxed and very family-friendly. We have two girls, so there are plenty of books, games and things for kids around the house.

Upstairs, the main bedroom has a king bed. We also have two kids’ bedrooms, and our finished basement has a queen bed as well as a sofa, giving guests a little extra room to spread out.

The kitchen is well equipped since we love to cook, and we have a backyard and patio that we really enjoy when the weather is nice.

We also share our home with our two very sweet 2-year-old kitties. They’ll stay at the house during exchanges, so we’re looking for people who are happy to feed them and give them a little attention while we’re away. They’re super friendly, love people and are easy to care for. We’ll leave everything you need and clear instructions.

Neighbourhood

We’re in a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood in Bethesda, just outside Washington, DC. We love that we can easily head into DC for museums, monuments, restaurants and sightseeing, but come home to a quieter neighborhood at the end of the day.

Downtown Bethesda is about a 10-minute drive and has lots of restaurants, shops and cafés. We’re also close to Rock Creek Park, which is great for walking, biking and getting outside. There are grocery stores, restaurants and everything you need for day-to-day life nearby.

It’s also a great base for exploring beyond DC, including other parts of Maryland and Northern Virginia.

Getting to my home

We’re easy to reach from all three Washington-area airports — Reagan National (DCA), Dulles (IAD) and Baltimore/Washington (BWI). You can get to our house by rental car or Uber/Lyft, and there are also public transportation options from the airports.

If you’re arriving by train, Washington Union Station is about 30 minutes away by car, depending on traffic.

Getting Around

A car is definitely the easiest way to get around our neighborhood and explore the wider DC area, and we’re very open to swapping cars as part of a home exchange.

For trips into Washington, DC, you can drive or take Metro. Downtown Bethesda and the Bethesda Metro station are about 2.5 miles from our house, and there’s also a bus stop a couple of blocks away. Uber and Lyft are easy to get.

Once you’re in downtown DC, it’s very easy to explore by Metro or on foot, so you won’t need a car for most sightseeing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Megan’s home. It was fabulous to be back in Bethesda and so close to DC. Megan was lovely to communicate with prior to our stay. Her home was clean, comfortable and well located. We also swapped cars and we looked after the sweetest cats. Great sim exchange.
