General overview

**Please check calendar before messaging. Thank you!** Discover why the Danes rank among the world's happiest people as you explore Copenhagen and its captivating surroundings. Our modern 2019 flat overlooks the Copenhagen harbor facing west, from which you can enjoy a sense of peacefulness, lots of natural light and beautiful sunsets from the common areas and balcony. Fling open the two sets of french doors in the summer time or cozy up to the fireplace in the winter (and enjoy the heated floors throughout). The apartment is 107m² (1,150 sq ft). Experience a house-like feeling via exit doors directly from the front balcony and spacious back terrace. You'll appreciate that it has two bathrooms (a rare find in Copenhagen). We love that our flat is located on a dead-end street so cars are always only pulling up from one direction which is much safer for children playing! There is a dedicated swimming area in the harbor right next door with a massive wooden deck for sunbathing. In the summer time the waters are also bustling with kayaks, SUPs, and boats. In the winter time, the brave souls still use the swimming area to take an invigorating "winter bathing" dip. The neighborhood is very family/stroller friendly. Every apartment complex's courtyard has its own unique mini playground for children. Plus, you'll be conveniently situated by bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants, a grocery store, and a bus & harbor ferry stop to the city center all on the same block.

The space

Bedrooms: There are three bedrooms. They are east facing with a view into the private terrace and shared courtyard. They get natural light in the morning/early afternoon. The bedrooms are set up as follows: 1. Master bedroom: • King sized bed with en suite bathroom and direct access to the spacious private terrace & shared courtyard. 2. Guest bedroom • Double bed (in between a "Queen" and "Full") & desk with monitor to connect your laptop. 3. Kids bedroom • Single ("Twin") bed & crib, lots of toys and books. Common areas consist of an open concept living/kitchen/dining area all with gorgeous west-facing views of the harbor as follows: • Seating area: You'll enjoy a sofa seating area with two big comfy couches that face each other situated on a low-pile rug for a comfortable conversation/kids playing area. There is an electric fireplace to make it super cozy on colder days (the glass is tempered and doesn't get hot, it's more for ambiance and has a fan option to blow warm air if desired). We have a smart projector permanently set up which offers Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Peacock, YouTube, etc. Just remove the blue painting on the wall and the wall becomes your cinema :) • Kitchen/dining: We invested in a large height-adjustable dining table from the Danish furniture company Skovby. When raised it acts as supplemental counter space, a bar-height area to enjoy a beverage of choice while admiring the sunset view over the water, or just a practical way to keep things out of reach from small curious hands :) You can raise and lower it with the touch of a button. Outdoor areas: • Balcony: The kitchen opens up to a balcony that overlooks the harbor. The balcony provides private direct access to the sidewalk/street via a half-flight of stairs. NOTE: The grill and chair pictured have been replaced with only two arm chairs. • Terrace: A large terrace with ample seating, coffee table, and mini trampoline are accessible via the master bedroom (or from the courtyard). • Shared apartment courtyard: Lots of toys & a sand pit for children, a pet-free grassy area, and an orangerie is available to reserve for free (it's for residents of the buliding, I can help reserve it for you if you're having an event).

Neighbourhood

Sluseholmen (sloo-suh-hol-men) is one of Copenhagen's newly developed neighborhoods. It's nicknamed the canal city because the apartment buildings jet out directly from the water, so often instead of streets separating buildings it's a serene canal. The picturesque area is bustling with young families and lots of dogs too. Just a 10 minute stroll across a pedestrian fishing bridge you'll find a vast park with plenty of walking/biking trails, a lake, meadows, playgrounds, and sports fields. Copenhagen boasts fairytale streets & buildings, modern architecture, a thriving cultural scene, and exquisite dining experiences--being home to frequently top-ranked restaurants in the world like Noma and the Alchemist. (Not to mention a top-ranked burger in the world from the modest Gasoline Grill.) The city's charm lies in its characteristic and colorful buildings in the city center set amongst pristine canals, providing visitors with a unique and beyond Instagram-worthy views. Immerse yourself in the rich gastronomy and laid-back atmosphere, making Copenhagen an ideal destination to unravel its many charms. Whether you're visiting the numerous museums, strolling along the beautiful Nyhavn, cycling through its streets, exploring the majestic Kronborg castle, enjoying the world's second-oldest operating amusement park Tivoli, or cruising its charming canals, there's something to delight everyone, regardless of their age or preferences. Copenhagen truly is a favorite destination for all tastes and ages! Moreover, you won't experience a language barrier speaking English in Copenhagen =)

Getting to my home

Car/taxi is the best way as it's only an 8 minute drive. There is free 2 hour parking directly out front of our building and ample stress-free loading/unloading space.

Nearest airport

Copenhagen Airport (CPH)

Getting around

Biking: Copenhagen is the friendliest bike city in the world. It's flat and there are dedicated bike paths. Cyclists rule the streets here. Be sure to watch out before you cross the road! We have a male bike with a child bike seat attached and female bike that you're welcome to use. (Male bike size is for someone around 190cm//6'3", female bike size is for someone around 170cm//5'7", child seat is a Thule Yepp Maxi and is designed and tested for children from 9 months to 6 years old (or up to 18kg//40lbs). The 7A bus stop is 90-second walk that takes you to directly to the city center in 20 minutes. It's easy to wheel a stroller onto the bus. The harbor bus (pedestrian ferry) is a 5 minute walk and is a beautifully scenic way to get to many hot spots in Copenhagen, including the iconic Nyhavn canal. It's easy to wheel a stroller onto the harbor bus and you can also bring your bike(s) too provided you pay the extra fee. Taxis: No Uber here! Get the Viggo or TAXA 4x35 app instead. Car sharing: Traditional car sharing app Green Mobility (use code 4haTCceX for 30 minutes free driving). You can also use the peer-to-peer app Go More (similar to TURO). Coming in June 2024: a metro stop that we personally cannot be more excited about.
