Our beach house is on a barrier island, two blocks from a beach approach and the Atlantic ocean and a few blocks from Sunset Park on the Halifax River. We are an hour from Orlando and an hour from St. Augustine.
The Space
Enjoy our whimsical beach decor, and have a coffee in the Florida room or relax in the backyard hammock (under our new tiki hut -- photos to come) while watching the sun rise. The Florida room offers a desk and comfy kneeling chair for working or searching your laptop for your next excursion. Read a book in the papasan chair in the Florida room or outside under the covered porch surrounded by flowers. The living room includes a pullout couch (for up to 6 guests) and an exercise bike. The fenced backyard is large and private and invites ocean breezes in the evening. We have Wifi and Netflix on the TV. For kids (or big kids), we have board games, coloring gear, and tinker toys. Beds are new and comfy.
Guest Access
One floor, slight incline up the driveway.
Notes
We live here part-time, so we can sometimes be flexible with hosting. An exchange needs to be more in advance.

Neighbourhood
We are in Daytona Beach Shores, a safe, community-minded town in the Daytona area. Walk two blocks to the beach where you can relax under an umbrella or try body boarding or surfing (or surf fishing). Mere steps from our home is McElroy Park, with several pickleball courts, a walking trail, shuffleboard, bocce ball court, dog park, children's park, and a basketball half court. Walk to the local bakery and coffee shop, or enjoy other local restaurants within walking or driving distance. Tennis courts and a popular golf course are also around the corner. A grocery store is a short walk away (less than half a mile). Don't forget to look up -- you can watch a space launch from our beach. For excursions, go visit the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse (tallest in Florida), the Marine Science Center, or the Daytona International Speedway. Or go paddle boarding or kayaking on the Halifax or at Tomoka State park, look for alligators and manatees, or go swimming or diving at Blue Spring State Park. The House of Mouse (Orlando and Disney World, Universal, etc.) is not far down the road either, nor is St. Augustine (the oldest city in the U.S.) or Kennedy Space Center.
Nearest airport
Daytona International Airport is the closest airport (20 minutes), but Sanford International Airport is not too far (45 minutes), and neither is Orlando International (a little more than an hour).
Getting Around
Grocery store and pharmacy are within walking distance (less than a mile), and there are several restaurants within walking distance as well. You can reach quite a bit more by bike (we have a few). A car is needed to access landmarks farther away. Will discuss if doing simultaneous exchange.

Christine
We are a couple in our 50s who may be traveling with adult children, depending on the destination. Jim is a chemist and Christine is an editor for a magazine (sounds glamorous until you hear the title). We love water sports; Jim is a surfer and Christine enjoys paddleboarding (flat water). We also scuba dive -- most often in the springs near our home. We love nature, history, beautiful vistas, interesting cultural experiences, and getting away from the rat race!
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
