I live in the Alcântara neighborhood, just outside the city center. I am very close to the LX Factory and about halfway between the city center and Belém. I have a beautiful view of the Tejo River and the Cristo Rei statue from my living room. My area is very quiet and a typical Portuguese neighborhood (few tourists). There is plenty of commerce within walking distance, including restaurants, coffee shops, and parks.
The space
My apartment is an updated unit in building with five units. The apartment consists of one bedroom, kitchen (with refrigerator, stove/hob, oven, microwave, and washing machine), living/dining room and bathroom. The bedroom features a double bed and a ceiling fan. The living room sofa also easily converts into a double bed. The bathroom features a shower (no tub). I also have a small balcony in the backside of my apartment.
I don't have central A/C or heating (no one really does here), but I do have a portable A/C unit and a space heater. The summers here can get warm, but I have only used the portable A/C unit once. There is enough ventilation to create a nice breeze the rest of the time. I've also only used the space heater a couple of times. The winters here are fairly mild and the apartment is pretty well insulated.
Guest access
The apartment is on the middle level of the three-floor building, but there are about 5 steps to get up from the street to the building, and about 20 steps up to my level once inside of the building.
There is a lockbox outside the building to access the keys on arrival.
Notes
I do have a very friendly cat who will need to be cared for if you are staying at my place. She's very easy going and needs minimal daily care (self-feeder and water fountain; only need to clean litter every couple of days).

Neighbourhood
Active with plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. 10 minute walk to LX Factory of the riverfront.
Getting to my home
From the airport: best to take an Uber/Bolt, but it's also accessible by metro/bus.
Nearest airport
LIS (30 minutes by car; 60-90 minutes by public transportation
Getting around
There are several bus stops within a couple of blocks of the apartment. It depends where you are going as to which to choose. Google Maps is the best resource, in my opinion, for deciding which transport to take.
Getting around Lisbon is easy via buses and metros. There are several buses that come close to my home and I can give you tips to avoid walking up the steep hill to get to my place. :)
Uber/Bolt is extremely affordable here, but the public transportation is very easy to use and navigate.

I am an American living in the Lisbon area since January 2022, when I retired early to travel. I am open to home exchanges all over Europe, Africa, Australia, etc.
I have an easy-going cat that needs minimal maintenance while I’m away.

The Tejo River is just a 10 minute walk from the apartment. You can walk for miles in either direction. Electric bikes and scooters are also available to rent along the river walk.
