Neighbourhood
We live in Gatineau (Quebec), about 10 from downtown Ottawa (Ontario), Canada’s Capital Region.
Ottawa is definitely one of the most beautiful cities in all of Canada and has many amenities a capital city provides. There are many national museums such as Museum of Science and Technology, Museum of Nature, War Museum, Canadian Museum of History as well as Art galleries (most notably the National Art Gallery). There is also the National Performing Arts Center where you can see some shows (orchestra, ballet and concerts).
You are also very close to the Gatineau Park where you can enjoy beautiful scenery. Feel like going bungee jumping or a good ripride? Then, this is available and less than half an hour away. You could also go for a picnic at Pink Lake or walk all around the lake: Pink lake is a small but very beautiful lake, famous for it's emerald green color.
Feel like relaxing? Then you have to go and try out Nordik Spa-Nature, the biggest spa in North America.
Ottawa is also host to many international festivals such as the Jazz Festival, the Tulip Festival, the Beer Festival and many more. There is also an inter-provincial Zip Line which goes from Ottawa to Gatineau over the Ottawa River.
Ottawa is also known for the Byward Market where farmers sell fruits and vegetables during the day. At night, it gets vibrant with it's are many restaurants , pubs, bistros, shops, nightclubs, cafes, and everything else you could possibly want to enjoy. For a spectacular view of the city, I recommend you go have a drink and tapas at the Andaz's rooftop.

Our home is located in a nice neighborhood in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. It is just 10 from downtown Ottawa with all of the magnificent Parliament Buildings. It is home to the Casino du Lac Leamy and the famous Canadian History Museum. Our condo is just minutes from several ski areas. Montreal is only 2 hours away and the U.S. border is just 1 ½ hours (Ogdensburg, New York). Ottawa offers lots to do all year long, depending on the seasons. For example, there’s the Tulip Festival in May, the Jazz Festival, and the Blues Festival. In February, Gatineau and Ottawa hosts the Winterlude Festival on the longest skating rink in the world (Rideau Canal). In the wintertime, there are many downhill ski resorts located nearby including Mont-Ste-Marie. There is also professional hockey played by the Ottawa Senators of the NHL and Professional football played by the Ottawa RedBlacks of the CFL. In the summertime, kids (and their parents) can also enjoy water-tubing at Mont-Cascades or Calypso Park. Montreal is located only 2 hours East of Ottawa and about 4 and a half hour drive from beautiful Quebec City and Toronto. It is also located only 2 hours away from the international ski destination Mont Tremblant and also approx. 7 to 8 hours from New York City.
Our neighborhood is mostly French-speaking but most of them do understand and can speak the English language. Our condominium neighbors consist mostly of retired couples, making the atmosphere in our building incredibly serene and tranquil. The presence of these lovely elderly residents adds to the peaceful ambiance. Furthermore, they are not only kind-hearted but also genuinely supportive, always ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed.

Let me tell you a little bit about me and my boyfriend Nicholas and why we are so excited to travel with Home exchange. We are both French-Canadian who love exploring new places but also meet people from all around the world. I work as a Photographer and a Communication Advisor and Nicholas owns an AI company.
One of the reasons why home exchange resonates so deeply with us is because it's a tradition I grew up with. My family started using Home exchange when I was 11 years old. I have such fond memories of staying in cozy homes, discovering hidden gems in various destinations, and developing genuine connections with our guests and people who welcomed us, and became friends with many of them. It was through these experiences that I developed a true passion for travel and a desire to conti
