Neighbourhood
PORTOBELLO
The area we live in is just amazing. It has lovely architecture as Georgian villas and Victorian tenements enjoy conservation area status and there are a number of attractive parks to enjoy, and the vibrant high street features a variety of quality independent shops.
We have our own Victorian swimming pool, with Turkish Bath and a beachfront sauna (Soul Water Sauna).
Several popular events are held on the beach front each year including the annual Big Beach Busk and volleyball competitions. The Portobello Kayaking and Sailing Club is based here, along with RowPorty, a community-run coastal rowing club.
We have lots of places for you to eat and drink including Civerino's Slice pizzeria, The Beach House cafe, Joppa Rocks fish and seafood restaurant, Malverosa tapas as well as great pubs for you to sample more Scottish culinery delights as well as ales and beers!
We have a small supermarket at the high street end of our road, and a larger one just 5 minutes walk away. We also have a really good Aldi in Portobello too.
There are a number of playparks in Portobello including one at the bottom of our road, and one just off the Prom.
EDINBURGH
Just 20 mins away from our home is Edinburgh: Scotland's beautiful capital city. a fabulous City that is both beautiful and interesting, Edinburgh has it all. From Edinburgh Castle, Arthur's Seat, the Zoo, great museums, botanic gardens and even dungeons, there is so much to see and do.

BEYOND EDINBURGH
If you want to visit the mountains of Scotland, you can easily make a day trip up to Glen Coe or Ben Nevis (2.5 hour drive).
A little further East from our house in Dunbar, there is the East Links Family Park which is a great day out for the kids. Foxlake is a 5-star award-winning adventure hub offering the UK’s first ropes course over water. You can also do Coasteering, SUP and open water swimming on the many safe beaches in the area.
If you are a golf fan: Scotland’s Golf Coast has 21 courses to choose from and the greatest concentration of championship courses in the world, including Gullane, Muirfield, Renaissance, North Berwick and Dunbar. You can also play Musselburgh Old Course one of Scotland’s oldest and set in the middle of a racecourse!
Other great days out include Glasgow, Stirling (brilliant castle here), St Andrews and Elie in Fife.
Getting to my home
The best way to get to us internationally is by plane to Edinburgh Airport, then a taxi (or tram then bus) to our house.
