Neighbourhood
We are situated in a peaceful, safe suburb.
Within walking distance of our home there is a children's playground, tennis court, convenience store, takeaway food (best chicken tikka masala in the area) and bush walks featuring a secret waterfall.
Wellington City is just a 15 minute drive to the south. Lonely Planet once called it the "coolest little capital in the world" and we agree!
Known for its culture, creativity, coffee, craft beer, cuisine - there is something for everyone.
Take a stroll along the breathtaking harbour and stop at our national museum Te Papa.
Ride the iconic cable car up to the botanical gardens. Return via parliament (The Beehive) and jump on a free tour of the parliament buildings.
Visit Weta Workshop and learn about the props and special effects used in hit movies like The Lord of The Rings and Avatar.
Hit the mountain bike trails then reward yourself at a craft brewery.
Spot kiwis and native birds at Zealandia - the world's first fully-fenced ecosanctuary.
Hike to the top of Mt Kaukau - the highest point in Wellington and try and spot our house!
That's just in the city. Hop in the car and just an hour away there are wineries in the Wairarapa and beaches along the Kapiti coast.
If you really want to leave the Wellington region after all that, there are two ferry services from the city to the south island.
Nearest airport
Wellington airport is a 20 minute drive. Plenty of taxis and Ubers available.
Getting around
There is a bus stop at the end of the street that connects you to local supermarkets, shops, library, cafe, pool, train station. The same bus service continues onwards to Wellington city and beyond to the south coast.

We had a wonderful stay at Emma and Petes comfortable and cozy family home. Our girls especially enjoyed the many toys.
The spacious yard was an absolute delight, complete with the trampoline, climbing frame, and swing. Despite being only 15 minutes from Wellington, the tranquility and peace surrounding their home made it the perfect retreat from the hustle of the city.
We were also impressed with the beauty of the nature nearby and greatly appreciated their recommendations, particularly the hidden waterfall with the weta hotels along the way.
Communication with Emma was uncomplicated and easy. All in all was it a memorable adventure for our family and we would love to meet again.
Than you for the lovely feedback Michaela. It was a pleasure to host your lovely family as our very first PLU guests.
Emma and her family stayed for a globe and took good care of our home. Communication was always easy with Emma and they were very generous with the treats left for us. Although we missed meeting them in person, they seem like a lovely family 😊
We had a fabulous week at Katie's place. It was comfortable, spacious, well equipped and in a great location with so many things to see and do nearby. (Could have easily filled 2 weeks with activities).
Communication with Katie was a dream and we were so sad we couldn't meet up!
We would happily return here every time we visit the UK.
Michaela and family were excellent guests and left our home so tidy and clean. Thank you for being our first PLU guests!
