Neighbourhood
We are on a country road, only 2 km from the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 20).
This highway crosses the country from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean!
By car to Montreal: about 1 hour 20 minutes,
to Quebec City: 1 hour 05 minutes,
to Ottawa: approximately 4 hours,
to Toronto: about 8 hours.
Our home is right in the middle of the province. Thanks to its central location, many other cities are accessible and offer tourist, sports or artistic attractions and services.
The nearby roads are wide enough for cycling and walking, but there are no dedicated bike lanes nearby. However, the many small side roads that crisscross the area are very pleasant.
There is a campsite 1 km away. They have a nice swimming pool and for a small fee you can enjoy their facilities. I go there almost every day in the summer and I love it!
There is a gas station at the highway exit as well as a small convenience store (convenience store), a McDonald's restaurant and a Rôtisserie Saint-Hubert (the best rotisserie chicken in Canada!).
For small grocery stores, pharmacies, hardware stores, ice cream parlours and others, you can go to one of the nearby villages (St-Léonard d'Aston to the north, Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Conseil to the west) which are located about 12 km away.
For more choice, head to Drummondville (population of 75,000) about 20-30 minutes away where you will find good restaurants, shopping malls, large-scale and specialty grocery stores (Mexican grocery store, bakeries, cafes, etc.), tourist attractions. (including the Village Québécois d'Antan, a famous historical reproduction of a village), museums, parks, concert halls, cinemas, etc.
Another very interesting city nearby is Trois-Rivières, a 40-minute drive away. In the same day, you can visit a historic former prison, go kayaking and watch a show in an open-air amphitheater on the banks of the beautiful St. Lawrence River!
There are many other interesting cities and towns: Sherbrooke, Victoriaville, Ste-Élisabeth, etc. according to your interests... I will be happy to help you find the perfect activities and tours for your trip.

Nearest airport
Quebec City's Jean Lesage Airport is the closest airport and our favorite because it is smaller and easier to access. This is really perfect if you rent a car. In no time, you'll be out of town and on the Trans-Canada Highway towards our home. It will only take you about 1 hour 15 minutes to arrive.
Taking the train or bus to Drummondville is possible from the Quebec City airport, but it's not really convenient. If that's your choice of transportation, the Montreal airport might be a better option.
Montreal's Pierre-Elliot-Trudeau Airport is a little further away (1h45). However, the airport is served by train and bus. You should check the train or bus schedules before buying the plane tickets as the frequency is limited.

Getting Around
A bike can take you to the nearby pool or small surrounding villages, but you'll need a car to visit the towns in the area.
In addition to rental agencies, there are community cars that can be rented in Quebec City and Montreal: https://communauto.com/
There is a rideshare service to Drummondville: https://www.amigoexpress.com/

My husband, Jean, and I are both retired. I have been a music and ESL teacher in elementary and secondary schools. I play horn in various regional orchestras and chamber music groups. Jean has been a senior executive in the local forest industry and is still a consultant on occasion.
We are now very excited to discover what a beautiful world we live in and we love the different experiences that home exchanges offer.
We have two fantastic adult children who live in nearby towns. They will be happy to help you during your stay if you need anything.
Our house? This is your dream of the Canadian wilderness in a cozy home by a beautiful river and located just 2 km from the Trans-Canada Highway, making it very convenient when you want to visit the Belle Province of Quebec.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community.
