General Overview

Our wish list for 2026/2027: Canary Islands in January, February (after February 16) and March. Greek Islands, Lisbon, Porto in May, June, September, October, November. United Kingdom South Coast June, July, August or September. German and Dutch Wadden Islands. But we consider all offers. We also like big cities like London, Paris, Tokyo. Not too isolated, close to a beach/lake/pool. We need at least two separate beds. We like simultaneous exchanges of 2 weeks or longer. We have just been to Berlin, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Bordeaux. We have a large, beautiful house in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood with a fenced, sunny garden. Beautiful surroundings. 6 minutes by bike or by car to a swimming lake. Other lakes for sailing are also nearby. Very central. 30 minutes to the North Sea beach of Scheveningen. 30 minutes by car to Utrecht, The Hague, Rotterdam. 45 minutes to Amsterdam. There is a train station 20 minutes by car or bicycle in Gouda and Bodegraven. There is a bus station nearby. The bus runs once an hour and less on weekends and evenings. We cycle to the train station in Gouda or Bodegraven.

The Space

Our house is 190 m² (2000 ft²). We have a spacious living room with seating for at least 10 people. There is a large television (75 inches, not yet in the pictures) with Netflix. There is a separate toilet in the hallway. Next to the kitchen there is a living room with a 55 inch television. There is a sofa for 3 people and a dining table with chairs for 6 people Our kitchen is fully equipped. The oven can also function as a microwave. There is a separate microwave and dishwasher. We have a regular coffee maker and a French press. We don't drink coffee ourselves, but there is always coffee ready for the guests. The kitchen has a fridge with a large freezer compartment. There is a refrigerator in the shed. We always leave room in the fridge and freezer for guests. There are 2 folding bicycles and 4 regular bicycles in the shed. The washing machine and dryer are also available. There are two seats in the garden. There are 10 garden chairs, a large table and a smaller round table. There are 2 fixed umbrellas, so there is always shade. In the summer there are raspberries, strawberries and mulberries and figs, which can be eaten. There are 2 bathrooms on the first floor: a large one with bath and shower, 2 sinks and a toilet with bidet function. A smaller one with shower, sink and toilet. The master bedroom has 2 separate beds, 2x 90 x 200 centimeters. There are 2 separate bedrooms, both with a bed of 90 x 200 centimeters and a good trundle bed of 90 x 200 centimeters. There is a fourth bedroom with 1 bedroom, 90x200 centimeters. Two bedrooms have a TV. Open spiral staircase. In the attic is a large room with two dormer windows. There is a sofa that you can fold out into a good bed of 120 x 200 centimeters. And it comes with a separate mattress of 85 x 185 centimeters. There is a television with which you can play games on the Xbox, Wii and PlayStation 2. There are many games. If desired, we can store them. There's a stationary bike, weights, a balance ball, and an abdominal trainer for abdominal workouts, so it's a small gym. We also use the attic as storage for my English books.

3 floors (ground floor, first floor, second floor) There is an open spiral staircase. We put up fences in front of it when we change with a family with small children. There is free parking in our driveway and on the street.

Notes

We are two retirees who love to travel. Theo was born in 1951. He was director of the Gold and Silver Federation. He was a member of the Rotary. He is now a member of Past Rotary. Ada was born in 1956. She worked as a librarian at a large high school in the Media Library. She is a member of Annclub Reeuwijk. We sometimes travel with our adult children and my sister-in-law. We are interested in big cities, museums and culture. We love animals, but we don't have pets ourselves. Pets, if they behave well, are welcome in our house. They are not allowed to sleep on the beds The whole house is equipped with mosquito nets, awnings and blackout curtains. Most television sets have cable television and offer Dutch, Belgian, German and French television. We can watch BBC1, 2, 3, 4, World and Entertainment. Downstairs is Netflix on two televisions. We have a closet full of board games. We are retired ourselves, but we still have a veldbett, 2 high chairs, child seats on the front and back of the bike and toys. If more is needed, we can borrow it. We have nice neighbors. There is good wifi throughout the house. We love simultaneous exchanges. All beaches in the North Sea are sandy beaches. Most beaches have restaurants. Scheveningen is a city beach with many restaurants. We can take care of and cuddle your animals, provided they can be left alone all day. We prefer not to let dogs walk. I love plants. Beware of cyclists, they are everywhere and often have no light at night. Trains run regularly from Gouda station, but these are quite expensive. Parking is very expensive in the Netherlands, especially in Amsterdam and Utrecht, but still cheaper than traveling by train with two or more people. In Amsterdam, park your car in P+R RAI and take metro line 52 (direction Noord) and get off at Rokin or Central Station. If you return to the P&R by metro, the parking price is only €1. You travel with a public transport pass that you can buy in the parking garage. The others could use a pin. Cycling routes: In the Netherlands, we have a system that allows you to switch from one numbered node to another, so-called 'nodes'. You see them on most maps. There is also a phone app called 'cycling route network'. Please note: in the Netherlands you cycle on the road or on a special cycle path. It is forbidden to ride in pedestrian areas or on the sidewalk. We do not recommend cycling in Amsterdam or Utrecht! Try Reeuwijk and Gouda first! Getting to my home

There is a train station within a 20-minute drive in Gouda. There is also a train station in Bodegraven, a 9-minute drive away. A bus stop is a 10-minute walk away. Gouda train station is a 27-minute bus ride away. Or to Bodegraven station, 22 minutes by bus. There is a bus every 30 minutes, but after 19:00 the bus runs every hour.

Getting Around

We are open to car exchange, with our Ford Galaxy automatic, 7 seats. We cycle a lot. There is a jumbo supermarket 400 metres away in a small shopping centre. In the Miereakker shopping center there is a bakery, butcher, wine bar, flower shop, post office in the shoe store and a pharmacy. Gouda is 20 minutes by car or bicycle. There are the larger shops and museums. Another shopping centre, Gouda Bloemendaal, is 3 kilometres away.
