We LOVED our time with Shu and coach Thunder. This was our first experience with a host exchange. They have set a very high bar. Their kindness and generosity was so deeply appreciated and we felt so welcome in their home. Their home is roomy and comfortable with a beautiful backyard garden and is in an area that feels safe and is within a short drive to all the fun of New Orleans. I’ve heard others say they have made new friends during host exchanges. That has certainly been our experience. We are looking forward to their visit to Truckee, hopefully next summer.
Unfortunately this exchange never happened as our hostess tested positive for Covid a few days before we were due to arrive. Being in a high risk group (although fully vaccinated) we opted to stay in a New Orleans hotel instead.
Although sorry not to have met the generous family that offered to host us with nothing definitely arranged in return, we enjoyed New Orleans despite the setback and wish them a speedy recovery.
Shu and family were so seeet and amazing! She watered my plants and fed my alpacas and took great care of my house! Would welcome them back anytime!!
Shu and her husband were the absolute perfect guests! I was lucky to be able to meet them and chat with them, and this is what home exchanging is all about -- meeting new people and making connections. They left my apartment spotless, and even left me the most thoughtful little gifts as a thank-you. I would host them any time.
Shu and her family were wonderful guests! I appreciated the communication before and during their stay. Shu went the extra mile to care for our pets and many plants. They left the house in great shape and even started the laundry. Most importantly, they are wonderful people! This is why we home swap!
This is our first part of our hospitality exchange. Sandy and Nancy are just awesome! Even though we have never met before, it feels like long lost friends. We had some nice long conversations and shared life experiences. We enjoyed their stay so much that we have scheduled our next exchange! We look forward to visit them in California soon!!
Gina's home in Orlando is beautiful and serene. I cannot believe this is right outside of a busy city. It feels like deep in the woods. You can see wild animals every day. Their alpacas are super cute! The house is very nice and comfortable. Gina is super accommodating and supportive. We had a wonderful stay!
Peter and Teodora are very patient and communicative. We had planned this exchange for almost a year and the last minute I had COVID. They had to book a hotel instead. I felt deeply sorry and disappointed but they were so gracious and understanding. I hope one day we can do a real exchange.
Karen's apartment is amazing! Spacious and comfortable. It is minutes away from all the places we need to visit. There are shops and restaurants nearby.
Karen is awesome! She checked in with us in advance and gave us very detailed directions and local tips. We were like old friends minutes after we met.
I am looking forward to hosting her in New Orleans soon!!
Andie's house is just gorgeous! I loved her beautiful decorations. The house is cozy and extremely clean and tidy. She definitely inspired me to de-clutter more at my house. LOL.
Her house is right in the middle of the city and minutes away from everything. The city of Wilmington, NC is great! The beaches are so beautiful. If you want to collect the shells, go up to the north side of Wrightsville beach. The food is delicious yet so reasonably priced. (We appreciated it even more after we went down to Charleston).
This is my first exchange and it could not be better. I also want to share my first experience of taking care of animals. I never had pets, but Andie wrote extensive, detailed instructions about how to take care of them. I fed rabbits, chickens and cats. I got freaked out when one cat sneaked out but they came back in the evenings. It first appeared to be daunting and I read the pages of instructions several times. However, once you get the routine going, it is super easy. I now gained lots of confidence taking care of pets!
I am totally hooked with house swap from now on, thanks to PLU!

We are a family of three. My husband and I work in the education field. We love nature and enjoy meeting new people. We would like to visit places with beautiful scenery, hiking trails, canoeing waters, and good food. We often visit our son who is studying at UF in Gainesville Florida. My wish list for now: Florida near Gainesville, Savannah Georgia, smoky mountains area, Arkansas around the lakes, California around Bay Area, Europe, Japan, Hawaii. We usually travel as a couple but sometimes our son or inlaws will join us. We will definitely confirm the number of travelers before we swap.
I have a 3000sqf house with 2-3 spare bedrooms with their own bathrooms for hospitality exchange (hosting). When we travel during summer or winter, the whole house is available. We are looking to retire in a couple of years when we can swap at any time!
