General overview

We live in a very desirable part of Somerville, which is a very liberal, artsy community. Our neighborhood has a real residential feel, but we're just off a main street with lots of cute restaurants and cafes. Super easy to take the train into Cambridge or Boston from here! Our house is very spacious and family friendly with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a playroom, an office, a laundry room, and a big deck.

The space

We're a large condo in a duplex house -- We have the 2nd and 3rd floor. Our place is quite spacious and feels much more like a house than an apartment. There are 3 bedrooms plus an office and playroom. And some space in the basement. We also have a big deck and a little side yard. We have two full bathrooms (one with a gorgeous double shower), a half bathroom, and a laundry room on the 3rd floor.

Guest access

We are on the 2nd and 3rd floor of a house, so there are a bunch of stairs. Our front entryway is shared with our downstairs neighbors and our back entrance is private to our house.

Notes

We have a 16 year old cat, Diego, and we are looking for someone who would feel comfortable caring for him too. He is really sweet -- sometimes a little skittish around people who move fast or make loud noises, but he loves cuddling on the couch. There's a nice family with young kids who live below -- you can hear them sometimes from the living room or kitchen, but not from the bedrooms upstairs.

Neighbourhood

We live in a very desirable part of Somerville, which is a very liberal, artsy community. Our neighborhood has a real residential feel, but we're just off a main street with lots of cute restaurants and cafes. We live about a 4 minute walk from Ball Square (Green line) and about a 12 minute walk to Davis Square (Red line). So there's a lot of fun stuff that's accessible and both of those train lines go into Boston. Of course there is so much to do in Boston! But Somerville is also really fun, and we're even closer to Cambridge if you are interested in Harvard Square, etc. We are just a few minutes walk from two amazing breakfast places, an adorable cafe, tons of restaurants (Indian, Middle Eastern, Japanese, vegan tacos, Mexican, etc.), and a really interesting historic park. That's Ball Square, and there's even more in Davis Square. We are also just a few minutes from a beautiful bike path which is a lot of fun to explore. If you have a car or are more adventurous, this area is great for getting to so many New England destinations -- the ocean on the North shore, the mountains in New Hampshire, and even Southern Maine can be reached in about an hour.

Getting to my home

From Logan Airport: We are about 15-30 min drive in a taxi or Uber/Lyft, depending on traffic and time of day. It's also easy with the train, but it takes more like an hour. By car, we are less than a 10 min drive from both 93 and Rt. 2.

Getting around

So many shops and restaurants are walkable, or walk to the green line (about 4 min) or the red line train (about 12 min). There's also a bus stop a few blocks away.

Sara

We are a family of 3. Sara is an educator who also works part time as a freelance balloon artist, and she loves to travel, sing, and go to festivals. Sam is a software engineer who loves rock climbing and making things out of wood and metal. We both love to travel, but since our son (now 3) was born at the start of the pandemic, we haven't yet done much travel with him. We are looking forward to showing him more of the world! The kiddo loves trains, exploring how things work, and being outside.
