Our home is located within a residential area of Sorrento - just 10 mins walk to Piazza Tasso which is considered the centre of town. Here you will find a huge selection of restaurants (from Michelin Star to traditional trattorias and pizzerias) shops, coffee shops, bars etc. Evenings in Sorrento are quite vibrant and revolve around sipping an Aperol spritz in Piazza Tasso whilst watching the world go by, then heading out to dinner.

We live on the main street of Sorrento (although tucked away behind a lemon grove) and are less than 5 mins walk away from our local pub, pizzeria, trattorias, small convenience store, coffee shop, hairdresser & newsagent. 

5-6 mins walk you will find our nearest bakery, pharmacy, fresh fish shop, large supermarket, butcher, bakery, fruit shop, beauty salon etc.

We are very close to the sea and you can walk to the 'beach clubs' within in 20/25 minutes or a further 5 mins to access the public beach at Marina Grande.

Nearest airport

Naples airport is the closest to our home and there are a couple of options to get to Sorrento from there. A private car transfer is easiest but comes in around 90 euro one way. There's a very reliable bus 'Curreri' which runs fairly frequently from just outside the airport and will drop you at the train station in Sorrento - about a 10 min walk from my house. 

You can take a taxi from the airport to the ferry terminal in Beverello or the train station at Napoli Centrale but both are a bit of a pain with luggage.

Getting around

Centrally located in Sorrento. We are 10 mins from the train station with regional services to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples (where you can connect to high speed trains for Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan etc) 

The bus to the airport / Roma / Positano & Amalfi also leaves from just outside the train station. 20 minute walk to Marina Piccola where the ferries leave daily for Ischia, Capri, Naples, Amalfi and Positano (high season only for Positano & Amalfi). 30 mins walk takes you to the beautiful fishing village - Marina Grande where you can feast on the most incredible seafood and experience a traditional Italian village mostly unchanged by tourism.

We have just had an amazing 5 night stay at Vanessa’s in Sorrento. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Vanessa is so lovely & helpful and the communication was brilliant. The location is perfect with amazing views and a short 10 minute walk to the city centre. Her two cats are super easy and love a cuddle.

An exchange with Vanessa is what PLU dreams are made of. She was the most kindest and gracious host but of course her cats were the true hosts who greeted us, entertained us and kept us company. Her apartment was so clean and organized. Even her bed felt like home, so comfortable and with amazing views of Napoli and Mt. Vesuvius .The living room and kitchen balcony had amazing views of Sorrento and the gorgeous sea and of course the location was ideal for exploring Amalfi coast, Capri and Pompeii which we certainly did. Vanessa helped booked taxi rides to and from the airport, helped us book a tour of the Amalfi coast and even offered to help us order dinner in when we arrived late. Her home really felt like home away from home. Grazie Mille Vanessa!

This was a magical non-sim exchange - the bucket list type! We truly received the warmest of welcomes from Vanessa, Gianluca and Noah. They have an absolutely beautiful home in a prime location in Sorrento - tastefully decorated with views to die for, a home oozing love, with two delightful and easy-going cats, walking distance to all of Sorrento’s gems and above all with the most gracious, kind and friendly hosts. We began our interactions with Vanessa over a year ago & since then feel we have made new friends in Sorrento. We spoke regularly and shared many laughs together. Vanessa went above and beyond assisting us with arranging transfers and tours. We had the most fabulous stay, ate the most amazing food following Vanessa’s fab recommendations, toured the Amalfi coast, took wonderful day trips to Pompeii and capri, spent days lazing by the pool and others lazing at the Sorrento beach clubs…it has just gone too fast and we return home with memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you both for this amazing experience. We hope our paths will cross again in the future x

Her location in Sorento is fabulous and a great location to explore the Amalfi Coast, Capri, Pompeii, and much more. We can't say enough good things about Vanessa and our exchange experience. This exchange was perfect right from the start. Vanessa’s great communication , awesome sense of humour , ultimate kindness & assistance with organizing transfers and a tour of the Amalfi Coast was beyond appreciated. PLU host extraordinaire! Vanessa & Gianluca’s apartment is gorgeous and words can not describe how mind boggling it was to wake up to sweeping views of Sorrento, The Bay of Naples & Mount Vesuvius. Their apartment is in the perfect location for exploring by foot, train or bus. You do not need a car. There’s plenty of amazing restaurants, shopping, sites, cafes, beach clubs a short stroll away. We loved caring for Night , their adorable cat, who has the sweetest personality ever!! Thank you Vanessa, Gianluca & Noah for making our Italy dream trip a reality. We look forward to welcoming you to Whistler soon. X
