Mangawhai Heads is a small, coastal town, less than 2 hours north of Auckland airport.
We have recently moved there from the South Island, and are so far loving the beaches (a whole coast full of them), the estuary and the friendly community.
You can play golf at one of 4 top NZ courses, surf or swim at one of the many beaches, spot wildlife (including a variety of birds), walk, bike or enjoy the cafes and nearby vineyards.
Our house is just a few minutes walk to the estuary in a quiet part of “the Heads”.

Jacky
We (Jacky and Mike) are an active semi-retired couple who love the outdoors. Surrounded by nature, the mountains, ocean and rivers are our playground. At home, we spend our days mountain biking, hiking, cross country skiing and practicing yoga. When we're too tired for any of that, we enjoy reading, volunteering in the community, and going to the movies. All of this is even better when we have the company of our friends and 2 amazing (adult) children.

3 bedroom house in a quiet location in Mangawhai Heads. Walk to the estuary, drive to one of 5 surf beaches or 4 top MZ golf courses. Close to cafes, vineyards, bush walks, coastal walks and bike trails.
Dolphins, and orca are regular visitors to the estuary and beaches. You might even spot a few stingray if you go snorkelling in the estuary.
Enjoy the beautiful sunsets from the deck or house or sunrise from the main beach (see photo).
The estuary is 6 km long, so plenty of room for kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkelling, swimming, or visiting the dune to see the birdlife.
Spacious, open plan house with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. In summer, the native pohutakawa tree is in full bloom.
The front deck faces north west, with views of the estuary.
The garden will be landscaped before winter 2026,.

The native kererū (wood pigeon) occasionally visits our back yard. There are also plenty of tūī, pūkeko, rosellas and kingfisher birds. At low tide, the estuary is a haven for doterril, spoonbills and other birds.
