General overview

Well-designed family home. Bright and cheery with a large yard. Very cozy in the winter with a wood stove and great access to the local trails.

The space

2 bedrooms and bath on the upper floor, including the larger master. The main floor has a kitchen, dining, and living room with 70" TV. The lower floors have an additional bedroom, bathroom, wood stove, family room and laundry, with walk-out access to the back yard.

Guest access

4 floors with short stairways between each. Level main and rear entrances.

Notes

This is remote Northern Canada! It can be COLD winter for 8 months of the year. We love it because we can snowshoe, cross-country ski, and ice skate every day if we want and then curl up beside a warm fire in the family room. The other seasons are very short, but incredible for outdoor exploration on hiking trails, lakes and rivers.

Neighbourhood

We are in the centre of Western Canada's only UNESCO Global GeoPark, famous for its unique dinosaur fossils and trackways, waterfalls, and geological features. Minutes away from over 50 hiking trails and world-class waterfalls.

Getting to my home

Direct flights from Calgary or Vancouver to Fort St John or Grande Prairie and then 2h drive to Tumbler Ridge.

Nearest airport

2 hour drive from either the North Peace Regional Airport (YXJ) or Grande Prairie (YQU) airport via well-maintained 2 lane highways.

Getting around

Local shops are 20min walk or 5 minute drive. Larger centres for shopping are Dawson Creek, Fort St John or Grande Prairie. A car or truck is essential for travel between towns as there is no commercial or public transit.

My wife and I love to travel. We are also very active in our home community, volunteering with many different clubs. We hike, snowshoe, ski, ice climb, paddle, cycle, and curl. We also love to work with wood and paints, building projects, restoring furniture, and renovating. We are both geologists working in the local mines.
