General overview

our home is quite ordinary on the outside, no luxury villa. It's charm is in the green surrounding it, the birdsounds, the windows letting in lots of daylight, the secluded garden in the back and the open space in the front we share with our neighbours: we once picked this place because it felt like a really safe place for children to learn to ride their bike and play outdoors. And it has been just that for us. from our home you can directly take a stroll over a small dyke surrounded by farmland, or straight into the woods of the Schoorlse Duinen and walk all the way to the beach and back (or take a bicycle). It is a practical home with a nice spacious kitchen, a bathroom with both a shower and a bath and a bamboofloor that has been lived on, and played on and cleaned on before. The children occupy the 2nd floor (3 single bedrooms) and the parents sleep downstairs. The bathroom is upstairs, which unfortunately makes our home unsuitable for people that are wheelchair bound. Bergen is a pretty little village with plenty of cafe's and restaurants and fascinating architecture. It's located 50 km above Amsterdam, near the city of Alkmaar with it's own cheesemarket and near the North Sea beach.

The space

livingroom with large windows and sliding doors that open to the enclosed backgarden. Kitchen with glassroof and sliding doors to the garden. Sidekitchen with washingmachine leads to bedroom of the parents. Upstairs: bathroom with shower and bath. 3 single bedrooms.

Guest access

2 level house with stairs.

Notes

We' ve made a wooden attachment to our home, which we like to keep to ourselves but which can be swapped with an upstairs bedroom in the case of young children that need to sleep in close proximity to their parents. Concerning safety of young children: our trampoline in the frontgarden needs to be supervised. Children need to be able to climb the stairs safely or too small to climb at all. There's a small stream of water behind our house but as the backgate is normally locked, that shouldn't be a problem.

Anne

family of 5 people (and a small dog). We love the outdoors as well as reading manga, playing minecraft and watching anime on our phone (the teenage 3). Two of us are vegan, so that's what we usually cook, though mum still likes to eat fish occassionally. We can be sociable but on holidays, we like quiet surroundings best.
