Neighbourhood

Our house is located in a village with shops (supermarket, butcher, bakery, pharmacy, physiotherapist, osteopath, tobacconist/press, restaurant bar, hairdresser, post office, wine bar), on the edge of the Gironde estuary (the most large in Europe). The village of Gauriac has an upper part surrounded by vineyards while the corniche road runs along the estuary with its cliffs, its troglodyte houses, its squares, its small port with a square accessible to all from where you can fish the shrimp and its spaces equipped for picnicking. The waterfront is accessible on foot from our house via the Mugron natural site. Blaye and its Vauban citadel, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is 8 km north of Gauriac. 8 km to the south is the small town of Bourg en Gironde, its citadel and its charming port. You can also visit the prehistoric cave of Pair non pair about 15 minutes from us From Blaye, you can take the ferry that crosses the estuary and takes you to the Médoc where you will be able to discover the prestigious wine castles, its immense fine sandy beaches and its surf spots. You will be about 40 mins from Bordeaux (also accessible by train from Saint André de Cubzac 15 mins from us or by bus, stop a few hundred meters from us), 50 mins from Saint Emilion, 1h30 from Royan and 1h15 from Arcachon, its basin and the Pyla dune
