General Overview
Our house is spacious with lots of light
It is centrally located to the city center and to the roads to Cologne, Brussels, Antwerp, Liège
Heerlen is located in the Dutch Heuvelland, there are many beautiful hiking trails.
The Space
The moment we stepped into our house, we fell in love with the light that enters through the stained glass that covers the side wall. The high ceilings make it very spacious.
Our house is ideal for families with children, as we have children of our own and many toys to share. Our kitchen is fully equipped and you can prepare all your meals at home.
Downstairs is the living room with lots of light when the sun shines and patio doors towards the garden. The living room is connected to the kitchen.
On the first floor there are 3 bedrooms and the bathroom. 1 bedroom has a double bed, the other 2 rooms each have a single bed.
On the second floor is the 4th bedroom with a double bed. There is also the television/games room. The men in the house call it the "men's cave". 🙂

This is what our former guests (through another home exchange organization) said about our house and Heerlen:
We had the pleasure of meeting Saskia & Timur and Treir Boys prior to our exchange and they are wonderful, welcoming people, easy to communicate with before and during the exchange.
Their beautiful spacious house is located in a nice neighborhood of Heerlen. The city center is within walking distance, as is the beautiful playground 'het olifantje'.
We especially loved 'the glass palace' in Heerlen and our children loved all the fun toys they could play with.
Thank you Saskia & Timur, for this nice exchange!
We had two great weeks with Saskia and Timur. Their spacious old-style house in Heerlen is beautifully decorated with beautiful mosaic and wooden floors. We also had the privilege of using their new kitchen, which is very nice, modern and well appointed.
Heerlen is an active city where you can find nice places to visit on foot or by bike directly from the house. The location of the house also allowed us to discover the nearby places of Germany and Belgium...
Saskia and Timur are very friendly and hospitable, the contact with them is easy. We exchanged something with them during our stay, to which they responded with great attention.
We will keep a very good memory of our holiday in the Netherlands, thank you for your welcome!
An exchange for only a few days in the autumn holidays, what a delight and how nice that you have made this possible. We had a great holiday!
We were warmly welcomed by family and enjoyed the Limburg flan. Your house offers a lot of space. It is very pleasant and comfortable. Cat Diego prefers to be outside during the day, but will sit with you in the evening.
It was beautiful - almost summer - weather, and we saw a lot of the area. With the street art app we walked through the center of Heerlen. We have found beautiful large and small works of art. We walked in the nearby Imstenrader forest. In a radius of 15 minutes by car we were at the Velvet Caves and the castle ruins of Valkenburg, the city park of Valkenburg with its nice play areas, in Kerkrade at the Continium museum and in Hoensbroek at Hoensbroek Castle. And there is much more to discover.
Saskia and Timur's house is a wonderful place to stay and our children had a great time with the toys. It is a pleasant place to be.

Neighbourhood
Heerlen is a city in the south of the Netherlands, very close to the German border (we often go out for dinner in Germany). The beautiful old city of Maastricht is only a 20-minute drive away. We live in a beautiful region with lots of nature. There are several forests nearby and the Belgian Ardennes are also within driving distance.
There are also several cultural cities nearby, Maastricht (15 min drive), Aachen (15 min), Cologne (1 hour) Brussels (1.5 hours), Antwerp (1.25 hours).
We live in a green neighborhood within walking distance of the center. There is a park with a small playground at 50m. Our house is on a quiet street. The children can play outside there.
There are many murals in Heerlen, large and small. You can take several walks to discover them.
