General overview
Our house is spacious with a lot of light
It's located centrally to the city center as well as to the exit roads to Cologne, Brussels, Antwerp, Liège
Heerlen is located in the Dutch Hill Country, there are lots of beautiful hiking trails.
The space
The moment we set foot in our house we fell in love with the light that comes in through the stained glass that covers the side wall. The high ceilings make it very spacious.
Our home is ideal for families with kids as we have kids ourselves and many toys to share. Our kitchen is fully equipped and you will be able to prepare all your meals at home.
Downstairs there is de living room with a lot of light when the sun shines and doors you can open towards the garden. The living room is connected to the kitchen.
On the first floor there are 3 bedrooms and the bath room. 1 bedroom has a 2 persons bed, the other 2 rooms each have a 1 person bed.
On the second floor there is the 4th bedroom with a 2 persons bed. There is also de television/gaming room. The men in house call it the "men cave”. 🙂

This is what our former guests (through another home exchange organization said about our house and Heerlen):
We had the pleasure of meeting Saskia & Timoer and treir boys prior to our exchange and they are wonderful, welcoming people, easy to communicate with before and during the exchange.
Their beautiful spacious house is situated in a nice area of Heerlen. The city centre is within walking distance, as is the wonderful playground “het olifantje”.
We especially loved ‘het glaspaleis’ in Heerlen and our kids loved all the nice toys they could play with.
Thank you Saskia & Timoer, for this nice exchange!
We had two great weeks at Saskia and Timoer's. Their spacious Heerlen's old style house is beautifully decorated with nice mosaic and wood flooring. We also had the privilege to use their new kitchen, which is very nice, modern and well furnished.
Heerlen is an active town where you could find nice places for to visit by foot or bike directly from the house. The house situation let us also to discover Germany's and Belgium's nearby spots...
Saskia and Timoer are very friendly and welcoming, the contact with them is easy. We had some exchanges with them during our stay, to which they responded with a lot of attention.
We will keep a very good memory of our holidays in the Netherlands, thank you for your welcome !
An exchange for just a few days in the autumn holiday, what a glory and how nice that you made it possible. We’ve had a great holiday!
We were warmly welcomed by family and have enjoyed the ‘Limburgse vlaai’ (pie). Your house offers a lot of space. It is very pleasant and comfortable. Cat Diego prefers to be outdoors during the day, but will be sitting with you in the evening.
It was beautiful - almost summer- weather, and we have seen a lot of the surroundings. With the streetart-app we walked through Heerlen center. We have found beautiful huge and tiny works of art. We have walked in the nearby Imstenrader forest. In a radius of 15 minutes by car we were at the Fluweel-caves and the castle ruins of Valkenburg, the city park of Valkenburg with its nice play areas, in Kerkrade at the Continium museum and in Hoensbroek at Hoensbroek castle. And there is much more to discover.
In the house of Saskia and Timoer it is nice to relax and our children have had a good time with the toys. It is a pleasant place to be.

Neighbourhood
Heerlen is a city in the south of the Netherlands, very close to the German border (we often go for dinner to Germany). The beautiful ancient city of Maastricht is at only 20 minutes driving. We live in a beautiful region with a lot of nature. There are several forests nearby, and also the Belgian Ardennes are at driving distance.
There are also several cultural cities nearby, Maastricht (15 min drive), Aachen (15 min), Cologne (1 hour) Brussels (1,5 hour), Antwerp (1,25 hour).
We live in a green district at walking distance from the center. There is a park with a small playground at 50m. Our house is on a quiet street. The children can play outside there.
In Heerlen there are a lot of murals, big ones and mini ones. You can make several walks to discover them.
