I designed and built my house in 2016 so it's exactly how I want it, full of light with hints of mid-century modern. There is a pretty rear garden and the street is lined with trees so it has a lovely connection to nature. It is a quiet area but well connected to central Oxford by bus or by a lovely walk through the park. It is easy to visit the Cotswolds or London.
The Space
The house is on 3 floors with one bedroom and shower room on the ground floor. Up a short flight of stairs is the double-height kitchen diner connecting directly to the back garden. The living room is on the first floor, bathed in light with windows on 3 sides. On the top floor there is an art room (which can have a futon mattress on the floor or the mezzanine) and the main bedroom and bathroom. Please note that the main 2 bedrooms are 2 floors apart, each with its own bathroom. Ideal for friends sharing or parent(s) with an older child. I've had swaps with families with a baby where they have brought their own cot to put in the main bedroom and a small child could sleep in the art room.

Neighbourhood
The neighbourhood is residential with a small supermarket and pharmacy a short walk away. It is a short drive or bus journey to areas with a lot of supermarkets, street market and cafes.
Getting to my home
It is best to fly to Heathrow airport and either hire a car or catch the coach that connects the airport to the city. You can also fly to Birmingham airport and there is a train from Birmingham International station to Oxford train station.

Getting Around
Central Oxford is about 2 miles away, easily reached by on foot, bike or by bus. The historic centre is beautiful with the University colleges, museums, restaurants, cinemas, covered market and theatres. There is a train and coach link to London from the centre.
We had an amazing stay in Lesley’s beautiful house in Oxford. The house itself is arcitect-made by herself and every detail is very thought through from the open floor plan and dobbel high kitchen, to the build in bench by the window where we could sit and enjoy our breakfast while watching parrots sitting outside in the appletree in the garden. So many interesting details in her home which are so difficult to describe well enough + very clean and tidy.
Lesley really had made a good guide of what to see in the area, which she send us before our stay, for every part of Oxford including scenic walking routes from her house to the different part of the city. So much lovely nature around, good for walking, biking, kajaking. And yet so close to the city!
We really enjoyed our stay and hope that we will get a chance to come back sometime in the future🤗
It has been a real pleasure to exchange with Lesley. Communication was great, and she left my home very clean and tidy. Thank you❤️
Marie Louise has a really lovely apartment that she keeps spotlessly clean and tidy. It is a great layout with two good sized bedrooms and a lovely sitting room with a west facing balcony where we could sit out with a cuppa or drink. Everything is easy to use and the kitchen is well equipped and modern. We immediately felt at home and relaxed and could easily explore Aarhus and beyond using the trains, trams and local buses and of course walking through Aarhus which is a delightful city full of fantastic art galleries, museums, shops and cafes. So much to see and do!
Marie Louise was the perfect exchange partner being very good at communicating and very helpful and kind. When I arrived back my house was so clean and tidy you wouldn't know she and her friend had been there apart from the extremely thoughtful gifts they had left for me. I heartily recommend Marie Louise and her home as a fantastic home exchange experience.

Architect and experienced house swapper based in beautiful Oxford. I usually travel with a friend and am particularly interested in long weekend city breaks in Copenhagen, Berlin and Paris, but open to suggestions. I'm very respectful of other people's homes, good at communicating and leave a well-explained folder about my architect-designed house (that's by me) for my guests.
"Looking for a swap late December/early January but also any time for this wonderful city"
