General Overview

I designed and built my house in 2016 so it's exactly how I want it, full of light with hints of mid-century modern. There is a pretty rear garden and the street is lined with trees so it has a lovely connection to nature. It is a quiet area but well connected to central Oxford by bus or by a lovely walk through the park. It is easy to visit the Cotswolds or London.

The Space

The house is on 3 floors with one bedroom and shower room on the ground floor. Up a short flight of stairs is the double-height kitchen diner connecting directly to the back garden. The living room is on the first floor, bathed in light with windows on 3 sides. On the top floor there is an art room (which has a double mattress on the floor or the mezzanine accessed by a ladder) and the main bedroom and bathroom. Please note that the main 2 bedrooms are 2 floors apart, each with its own bathroom. Ideal for friends sharing or parent(s) with an older child. I've had swaps with families with a baby where they have brought their own cot to put in the main bedroom and a child could sleep on the mezzanine of the art room if they are confident climbing a ladder.

Neighbourhood

The neighbourhood is residential with a small supermarket and pharmacy a short walk away. It is a short drive or bus journey to areas with a lot of supermarkets, street market and cafes.

Getting to my home

It is best to fly to Heathrow airport and either hire a car or catch the coach that connects the airport to the city. You can also fly to Birmingham airport and there is a train from Birmingham International station to Oxford train station.

Getting Around

Central Oxford is about 2 miles away, easily reached by on foot, bike or by bus. The historic centre is beautiful with the University colleges, museums, restaurants, cinemas, covered market and theatres. There is a train and coach link to London from the centre.

Lesley

Architect and experienced house swapper based in beautiful Oxford. I usually travel with a friend and am particularly interested in long weekend city breaks in Copenhagen, Berlin and Paris, but open to suggestions. I'm very respectful of other people's homes, good at communicating and leave a well-explained folder about my architect-designed house (that's by me) for my guests.
