General overview

Bright & spacious. Easy to maintain. Close to shops, the beach, Perth city & public transport. Private spa- great with champagne! WE SHUT THE SPA DOWN IN JUNE, JULY & AUGUST as it’s too expensive to maintain the temp. We can also offer a unique opportunity to spend a few nights in a cottage on the property of farming friends. They live 160km north east of Perth in Goomalling. Debra and Bruce are delightful and offered this opportunity the last time we visited. They do not expect payment, however I’m sure a bottle of something nice to be shared around the campfire would be appreciated and a bunch of flowers. If this is of interest, please mention so I can pass on your details and make sure the cottage is available.

The space

We love our spacious, bright & breezy home, which features views of the Indian ocean. Upstairs offers a large open plan kitchen, dining & lounge area with bi-fold doors that open onto our balcony. The master bedroom is part of the upstairs area. Downstairs, we have two large bedrooms, one with a queen bed & the other with two king single beds and a cot. There is a shared bathroom & separate toilet. The private spa is easily accessible from the activity/ family room which has an additional television, well set up for young children. The laundry & office is located downstairs. We have a double lock-up garage which has a roller door at the rear which leads to the spa area. Our garden is divided into three areas: the front, which encompasses roses on the house side & a native garden on the verge, a small herb garden located near the laundry & frangipani's, grasses near the spa. Our garden is very easy to maintain and only likes to have a 'drink' on the really hot days as we have a reticulation system. We are a house-proud couple and pride ourselves in the care we take looking after our home, and likewise other peoples. We expect our home to be left clean, neat and tidy. If you do not have the time, or are not keen on cleaning, we would appreciate a professional cleaner employed. Details will be left with the literature provided on a recommended cleaner & pricing. We appreciate your understanding.

Guest access

Two storey home with double lock-up garage. Our home has an alarm and is very safe and secure. We also have perimeter camera’s at both the front and rear of our home.

Notes

Our home was built with wheelchair access width to the upstairs bathroom, toilet and bedroom. We have made provision for a lift, but this has not been installed as yet. It's on an 'as required' basis. If our potential guests are able to manage the stairs to the upper level, the living area etc is disability friendly. We have an ‘Australian Mist’ cat. If you'd like to care for him that would be wonderful as he’s very easy going and full of personality. We can also send him to the 'cat hotel'. Australian Mists are bred to be indoor cats. & are low-allergenic.

Neighbourhood

We live in the northern suburbs of Perth, approximately 10 minutes to Trigg and Scarborough beach. Karrinyup shopping centre has finally finished it’s major renovation and extension and boasts boutique, designer label stores as well as an outdoor area, accessible when the centre is closed with many restaurants, cafes & cinema with an entertainment centre. There are many parks close by which offer free gas barbecues & plenty of play equipment. Cafés are aplenty, rangeing from Italian cuisine, Spanish, Australian & health foods. Scarborough beach has an amphitheatre, which in summer hosts many concerts. International volleyball is often played at this beach. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, most of which do take-away food as well as in-house dining. There are several bowling clubs in the area, as well as health clubs & Olympic size swimming pools. Perth city is a 15 minute drive & Fremantle 20 minutes. Both of these are accessible by train & car.

Getting to my home

There is a rail station located at the T1 & T2 terminal (it will eventually be accessible from T3 & 4) which will take you through to the Perth city. From there, change trains to the Joondalup line and depart at Stirling station. It’s probably easier to take a taxi or Uber from there to our house, but there are buses available which will take you to the Karrinyup shopping centre. We are a 10 minute walk and not too difficult with luggage. Alternatively, hire a car or hop in a taxi or Uber. As of March 2023, the fare is about $A75.

Nearest airport

Perth airport is approximately 45 minutes from our home. Occasionally called the International terminal, until it was changed to T1. It is accessible by train & bus.

Getting around

Our local shopping centre is approximately 10 minutes away on foot and an easy drive. There is a main bus station near the shopping centre which serves the Stirling railway station, Hilary's boat harbour etc. The city is easily accessible, either by car along the freeway or by bus or train.
