General overview
It's not easy to find a place to rent short-term in the Riviera Maya as comfortable and with as much personality as this place. Situated in the famous and sought-after Playacar development, the apartment has two small balconies overlooking the jungle and between the 5th and 6th holes of the Hard Rock Golf Course (players cannot see your apartment from the course). Two large bedrooms, each with their own bathroom and an additional half bath. Hammock in the living room and perfect natural light throughout the day. When I found this place, I was really looking for my sanctuary. And I found it. :)
The space
Tranquil, great bird and coati watching, beautiful neighborhood pool with hardly anyone ever there (including two gazebos). I use the second bedroom as a sort of "den" for TV-watching, but it's set up with two twin beds.
Guest access
On the second floor, no elevator.

Neighbourhood
Playacar is a large community with luxury houses and apartments, restaurants, a gelato shop, laundry and more. There's a bird sanctuary in the neighborhood, always neighbors out walking, very safe with not one but two security gates to get to the apartment. Our actual neighborhood is called Pakal, which includes other small apartment buildings, townhomes, houses and mansions. It's the most wooded part of Playa del Carmen, which is much appreciated, with the tropical environment.
You're also a ten minute walk to the ferry dock that takes you to Cozumel Island (35 min. ferry) - one of the best snorkeling and scuba diving locations in the world.
Nearest airport
Cancun - 45 minutes in taxi ($50 USD) or comfortable bus ($13 USD). You can walk from the bus station to the house, about 15 minutes walking (or a $5 and 5 minute cab ride).
Getting around
You don't need a car here. You can walk to the beach, all restaurants, or take an inexpensive taxi. There are also "colectivo" vans that are convenient and cost $2 USD if you want to go to Tulum, Cancún, or a cenote. Of the entire Riviera Maya, this is the most convenient spot there is. Of course I would give you tips, contact numbers, etc. to make your trip most comfortable. Because it's such a tourist destination, it's no problem to speak English everywhere you go.
