General Overview
Welcome to our historic family home in downtown Chattanooga, TN! Our home is walking or biking distance to the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga campus, Coolidge Park, Warner Park Zoo, the Riverfront, Southside, Main Street and the Northshore. Our home is located in a friendly neighborhood on a tree-lined street in the Fortwood historic district. Our location is ideal for exploring everything Chattanooga has to offer as one of the best outdoor cities in the US.
The Space
Over the past couple of years we have been lovingly restoring our 1902 historic home after its previous life as a rental to college students. Much of the historic charm still exists including original staircase, 6 decorative fireplaces, stained glass windows, and window transoms. The downstairs consists of a tv room, family room, dining room, kitchen and full bathroom with a shower. Laundry is in the basement. Upstairs there are 5 bedrooms (total of 2 kings, 1 queen bed, 1 double bed and 1 crib or double mattress on floor, and a full bathroom with claw foot tub/shower. There is also off-street, gated parking and lots of storage in the basement. We also offer plenty of bikes for your family (road and mountain bikes) to take advantage of all the outdoor activities Chattanooga has to offer. Our favorite parts of the house are the front porch and backyard!

Notes
We are an adventurous family who loves to travel slowly and enjoy local spots. Shelby is an entrepreneurship professor and takes college students on study abroad trips during the summer. We would like to welcome other families into our home during this time. We are also interested in shorter exchanges during school breaks. We do have a friendly cat in case anyone has allergies and PLUers who are willing to take care of our cat would be preferred.

We are a family of 6: husband and wife with four adventurous kids, ages 8, 6, 4, and a newborn. We are from the US and lived in Spain for 4.5 years and two of our kids were born in Madrid. We are based back in the US for now and we frequently travel internationally with our kids around the academic calendar to try to open up their worldview and introduce them to new people. Shelby is an entrepreneurship professor and often leads study abroad trips for undergraduates during the summer. We are looking for exchange partners to stay in our house during summer 2025. We also travel for long weekends and other school breaks throughout the year.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
