We live in La Querencia Fresno Cohousing. If the word cohousing is new to you, just imagine a friendly community where the neighbors (28 homes) all know each other.
Our shared common spaces include a commercial kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining spaces, sitting/library area, and indoor playroom, and a laundry room.
Recreation options include pool, spa, sandbox, adult gym, game room, craft room, garden and wood workshop. There is also a bike shed, with an option to borrow a bike.
Step outside and chances are you’ll run into a friendly neighbor. There is a wide range of people living here, from 2 years old to the mid-80s. We are diverse in terms of race, gender, and sexual orientation. Neighbors regularly organize community meals, holidays, and events such as game nights which are open for everyone to attend.
Fresno is a racially diverse city in the heart of California's agricultural land. It boasts near year-round fresh produce, with local farmer’s markets, strawberry stands, and u-pick cherry farms. Down the street are 2 parks with playgrounds and walking trails. And, Woodward park, the biggest park in Fresno is 300 acres, has 5 miles of trails, the Shinaen Japanese friendship garden, BMX bike course, and 3 playgrounds.
In the spring, you can experience the blossom trail, where peach, nectarine, plums trees are in bloom.
In the winter, skiing/snowboarding is about 1.5 hours away.
Yosemite (Half dome, waterfalls) and Sequoia National Parks (General Sherman tree and the “Tunnel" tree) are about 1.5 hours drive.
Wineries in Paso Robles (Sensorio light exhibit) are about 2 hours drive.
And, California's Central Coast, with Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, and San Luis Obispo, are about 2.5-hour drive.

Neighbourhood
One side of our community faces a ponding basin where water birds come and go, the other side faces a Unitarian Universalist Church.
Down the street are shopping centers (Trader Joes, Target, Walmart) with a variety of restaurants (from pizza, burgers, juicery, boba, coffee, Mexican, Indian, Vietnamese, Mediterranean, and Japanese cuisine)
Fun areas to hang out are the Tower District (coffee, and tea shops, brewery, restaurants); every Thursday evenings is Art Hop where local artists display their art in venues around town; we like to check out the food truck scene at a local plant nursery called Gazebo Gardens; a unique must see is Forestiere Underground Gardens; and if you are into burritos, I’d recommend the anaconda burrito at Taqueria Yarelis.
Nearest airport
Fresno has a regional airport (15 min drive) with daily flights to cities through the United States and Mexico.
Getting around
You need a car. Also, we have bikes you can borrow; our bike shed has tools and a compressor air pump.

People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet.
