General overview

Our home is three years old and built with fabulous views over the vineyards. A modern open plan home with fully equipped kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, outdoor areas and bbqs. Although we have neighbors it is nice and private with outdoor areas both front and back. We live in a fabulous neighborhood where everyone is friendly and welcoming. A 5 minute walk to a fabulous swimming beach, award winning vineyards, local grocery shop, restaurants and a Beachfront bar. A 5 minute walk to the bus stop that will take you anywhere on the Island, or to the ferry terminal, with central Auckland being a 35 minute ferry ride away. There is also a car ferry available if you want to do trips to Waitomo Caves, Hobbiton, Rotorua or many other tourist options within a 2 hour drive from Auckland. We also have a small dog that we would not be able to take with us if traveling overseas so would consider someone who is happy to have her, although we have family that can take her if required. We have a cat that you would not see alot but he would require feeding as well. We do have feeding options if you were going away overnight.

The space

Two bedrooms with a queen and king size bed downstairs from living area. Living area opens up to a front covered deck with views of vineyards, and a private back deck with tropical garden views. Kitchen has a scullery. Large induction oven. Double sink. Fridge freezer with water. The house is new and fully insulated with double glazing and heating. The climate on Waiheke Island is normally warm summers and mild winters with a low rainfall.

Guest access

Split level home with stairs to entry. Stairs between bedroom and living area.

Notes

We have a 4 seater car available for use on the island.

Neighbourhood

Waiheke Island has continually been voted in the top 10 islands in the world by Lonely Planet, Conde nast traveller and others. The island has over 30 vineyards with over 15 Cellar doors and resturants, with a variety of different types of bars available. We live a 5 minute walk to Onetangi beach. The longest, and a safe swimming beach. There are 2 great restaurants and a beach bar there. 10 minute walk to our local grocery shop. A 10 to 30 min walk to several wineries and a whisky distillery and bar. You can also bus with the local bus stops a 10 min walk. 10 to 20 minutes drive to everywhere else on the island including supermarket, restaurants. Shops and ferry terminal. (to Auckland City) Easy to do day trips to Auckland City catching the ferry to Central Auckland where you can access public transport easily. The ferrys go until 11.30pm at night so a nice option is to travel to Auckland for a day and enjoy dinner there, before returning to Waiheke.

Getting to my home

Catch a ferry from Auckland City (35 minutes) Then the bus is a 20 minute drive to the end of the road. It is a 10 minute walk to our house (up a hill or alot of stairs) You can also catch a taxi from the ferry terminal.

Nearest airport

Auckland Airport is 30 minute ride from the Auckland ferry terminal to Waiheke Island.

Getting around

We could leave a 4 seat car for your use on the island. You can also hire bikes or bus throughout the island or walk. Waiheke is quite hilly so keep this in mind when considering waking anywhere.
