General overview
Salt Spring Island is the largest of the Gulf Islands which is situated between Vancouver mainland and Vancouver Island. There are 3 ferry terminals. Although, we are slightly off the beaten track we remains a highly desirable and exciting tourist destination. Artisans of every type visit and most never leave. Our exceptional farming community provide us with their abundance, of which most products are sold at their own honesty stands. From May till October the restaurants and pubs are filled with wonderful outdoor music from the many talented musicians that reside here. The famous Saturday Market is by far one the biggest highlights for our Summer visitors. We have the only Olive Farm in Canada, it produces incredible Olive oil! The Cidery, a Brewery and several Vineyards are wonderful spots to visit. There are many hikes and walks and of course biking has become very popular here as well. Our ‘town’ Ganges is in the heart of the island and is situated on an exciting and vibrant harbour. Come feel the magic of Salt Spring Island, relax, replenish your energy, and bathe in its beauty.
The space
Our beautiful home among the tall trees, sits on a sunny rocky outcrop. We are but 4 homes on a very private cul-de-sac. Our one and half acre property is surrounded by trees which provide us with wonder nature and privacy. We have a large outdoor area for entertaining and a large ‘fire pit’ with comfortable wooden Adirondack chairs.
Our home is 2 bedroom with den/3rd bedroom and 2 full bathrooms and one powder room.
We have a spacious front room with many large windows and wood burning fireplace/stove, large dining room easily sits 6-8., the TV recreation room is warmed by our propane fireplace (as needed) and it is adjacent to our beautiful light-filled gourmet kitchen..
The main bedroom with large en suite is on the main floor and other bedroom and den are upstairs with 3 piece bathroom (shower only). We have beautiful wood flooring on main and carpeting upstairs.
Our daughter, her partner and 8 year old live in the private suite above our garage, she will be here to answer any questions one might have about ‘country and island living’ and it’s idiosyncrasies.
Notes
We live in the country where our water comes from a deep well, it is sweet and pure! It is also limited! Water consumption must be carefully monitored therefore used judicially.
We also have a septic system of which all our drain waste passes through before going through the septic field. Only septic safe cleaning products can be put down our drains.

Getting to my home
There are 3 ferry terminals to Salt Spring Island. One from Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal south of Vancouver airport, and 2 from Vancouver Island, Swartz Bay and Crofton. The BC Ferry website has all the schedules, you can contact us for more info if needed
Nearest airport
Vancouver Island airport YYJ would be the closest to us, but the Vancouver Airport YVR would be most used for international visitors. The Tsawwassen ferry terminal is a 40 minute drive from YVR, the Swartz Bay terminal is maybe 10 min drive.
Getting around
Country living requires a car, since we are so rural we must drive for all shopping and site seeing needs. We could do a reciprocal car swaps if desired.
