General overview

Charming bungalow in the sought after SW Portland area: a safe, friendly neighborhood located only 12 minutes by car to the center of downtown Portland, Oregon on the west coast, USA

The space

Our family home is a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom bungalow on a half acre of beautiful property, just steps from the lovely Spring Garden Park with playground and summertime water features. Newly remodeled living and kitchen spaces with all the amenities: ethanol fireplace, gas range, dishwasher, garbage disposal. Husband is a fantastic cook and cocktail connoisseur so be assured we have all the equipment you need to cook amazing meals here! Sleeping spaces include: upper floor king bed with bathroom, 2 “kids rooms” with twin beds (one has an additional trundle underneath!), and another king bed guest room and bathroom on the lowest level. New model peloton in the guest room so bring your cleats and never miss a workout! Or just relax in our newly refinished family room with surround sound for movie nights and clean desk space for quiet working from home. Feel free to borrow from our large library of books, pull out a game from our collection, or spin a record on either of our 2 turntables! Kids rooms are well stocked with legos (can be placed high and away for younger visitors), books, costumes, games, puzzles, and toys. Plenty of room to roam with gardens, yard space for entertaining, soccer nets for scoring, mini orchard for fruit right off the tree (apples, plums, pears, figs, berries and more), charcoal grill and back porch picnic table for evening dinners and a wood firepit for marshmallow roasting at night. Or take advantage of our front entry space with comfortable seating and a propane-powered firepit for fireside wine without the smoke!

Guest access

Lots of driveway space and on street parking. All entrances do require at least 3 stairs to get to the main floor.

Notes

Our 2 stand up paddleboards (SUPs), many adult and kid bikes, and camping gear are usually available to gently borrow from the garage. If staying in the summer, we may ask for some help with yard sprinklers during the hottest weather! No pets at this time, please as many of the furniture pieces and rugs are new!

Neighbourhood

Multnomah Village is a quaint, walkable neighborhood that combines smalltown charm with the proximity and benefits of the big city. “The Village” - just an easy 6 minute walk from our house- has everything you’d want for a morning stroll, afternoon family outing, or evening out: an independent bookseller, an award-winning toy store, an art gallery, and many excellent small businesses selling jewelry, clothes, housewares, gifts, plants, and antiques. We also love it for the food: come try the best bagel shop in Portland (3 years running!), delicious local bakery, wood-fired pizza, an old school diner, several coffee shops, 2 local beer tap rooms (with arcade games for the kids!), cocktail bars, and many delicious restaurants. If you can’t decide, stop by the nearby food cart pod most evenings with 10+ cuisines and there’s sure to be something different for everyone in your group. We’d love to give you our foodie recommendations!

Getting to my home

The neighborhood has excellent local walkability and is close to several buslines, but having a car will better allow you to experience all Portland has to offer.

Nearest airport

We are located just a 22 minute drive or rideshare from PDX international airport: often voted the best airport in the US.

Getting around

Downtown Portland is a river-centric city with so much to love: summer weekend waterfront festivals, touring Broadway shows and local theater, the Oregon Symphony, opera, OMSI science museum, art museums, and -of course- nationally renowned cuisine, wine, and craft breweries! If you’re visiting between March-Oct, don’t miss a chance to cheer for our championship soccer/“futbal” teams: the Portland Timbers (MLS) and Portland Thorns (NWSL), who have the best fanbase in the US… we have season tickets and are happy to share them if so! Portland is a gem of a city and the perfect Pacific Northwest location for car daytrips galore. -An hour to gorgeous Mt Hood and surrounding forests and lakes (hiking! camping! skiing! snowshoeing! that historic lodge that was used in The Shining! #timberlinelodge) -30-60 min to the Columbia River Gorge: stunningly scenic corridor with more waterfalls and hikes than you could complete in a lifetime! -45 min to Willamette Valley area, home to more than 700(!) wineries and is one of the premier Pinot Noir-producing areas in the world. -1.5hrs to the wild and breathtaking Oregon Coast including favorite small beachtowns like Cannon Beach, Astoria and Manzanita. Come walk the 100% state owned beaches (really! Walk anywhere!), see anemones and starfish up close while tidepooling, or fly a kite on a breezy day. -For longer excursions or to pair with your Portland time: we are located about a 3hr drive south from Seattle, Washington or 3hr from the drier climate and vacation-worthy cities of Sisters and Bend in Central Oregon
