General overview
National Geographic named Milwaukee as one of the best places in the WORLD to visit in 2023. Touting Milwaukee’s lively energy and close-knit creative community, the article showcases what makes our city such a special place to visit. From the iconic Harley-Davidson Museum to the upcoming Bronzeville Center for the Arts, the vast collection of local breweries to the classic Wisconsin fare, National Geographic shows off Milwaukee as the dynamic, growing city we all know it to be.
Our home is 15 miles due north of downtown Milwaukee. Our community is safe, comfortable and has one of the best school districts in the state. We are close enough to downtown to make all the great activities so easy to attend. We are large enough to have our own events, restaurants and vibrant town center.
Downtown Chicago (1.5 hours) is easily visited for a day trip by train or simply driving.
The space
We have a two story home - 4 bedrooms/2.5 bathrooms.
Upstairs:
Master Suite has a king bed plus an attached full bathroom
Guest bedroom #1 has a queen bed with an bathroom in the hall, shared with the other bedrooms
Guest bedroom #2 has a full (double) bed, sharing the above mentioned bathroom in the hall
Guest bedroom #3 has a twin bed.
Main floor:
Family room and eat in kitchen are open to each other, making it very easy to enjoy each other's company while cooking or watching something on our large screen TV in the family room. The table in our kitchen seats 6 and also has leaves to seat 8 if you wish.
Our separate dining room is off the kitchen and seats up to 10 when the table is expanded. We have spent many holiday dinners in that room!
We turned our den into a large office. This is where I usually work, as it is sunny with three windows. I love to see the outside when I am a desk!
We also have a powder room and laundry/mud room on the first floor.

Home of Harley Davidson - visit the HD museum to see all the history of the iconic motorcycles.
Deer District - newest location for sports and entertainment, including the home of Fiserv Forum where the NBA Champion Bucks play as well as other great concerts and activities. Here is the link:

Baseball fans will appreciate the Milwaukee Brewers and AM FAM field, just minutes from downtown.
GOLF: Surrounding our community, there are many golf courses, both public as well as some of the more exclusive PGA event courses: Whistling Straits in Kohler (25 minutes north of our house) where the most recent Ryder Cup was held. Erin Hills (30 minutes from our house) hosted the US Open in 2017.
PICKLEBALL: this is my newest obsession. There are courts very close to our home, both indoors and outdoors that have open play times.
HIKING: Wisconsin is home of the Ice Age Scenic trail, which is a 1000 mile footpath through the state. You can pick up the trail about 30 minutes from our home. There are many other closer hiking spots that travel along Lake Michigan (2 miles from our home).
Getting to my home
Milwaukee’s airport is a quick 20 minute drive from our house. Chicago’s ORD is also well used and about 1.5 hours (depending on traffic of course!) from our house. You will need a car to get around.

Chicago O'Hare Airport - 90 minutes and there is a coach bus that we often take to/from ORD since there are more flight options

Our home exchange with Lynn and Brian in Mequon, Wisconsin, was absolutely wonderful! We had the pleasure of meeting them on our first evening, and they are such kind, welcoming people. They even surprised us with a thoughtful gift, which made us feel extra special. The house itself was perfect for our stay—spacious, very tidy, and incredibly family-friendly. Our kids had the best time playing in the large garden, especially with the neighbor’s friendly dog! We also slept like babies in the big, comfortable bed, which made our stay even more relaxing. Lynn and Brian’s hospitality and their lovely home made our time in Mequon truly memorable. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Thanks Lynn and Brian -
