General Overview
We live in a traditional "Charleston Single" home in the neighboring town of Mount Pleasant, SC. We are close to the beaches of Isle of Palms and Sullivans Island, as well as the Wando River where we often go boating. We are in a master planned community with a pool, tennis courts, rec fields, playgrounds, and everything is golf cart-able (including restaurants, nail salons, grocery stores, etc). We are also very close to a number of golf courses! The absolute best part of living here though is being able to hop over to downtown Charleston and experience the beauty, history, and BEST FOOD EVER.
Charleston has been voted the #1 travel destination in the U.S. for years and we’d love to share it with people from all over the world.
Note, it is approx 25 min to downtown and the beaches. Pretty standard drive around here bc of all the waterways!
The Space
Our home is 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bath. Open floor plan between kitchen and living room. Screened in porch with pond/woods view. And for families we have LOTS of toys! Our house sleeps 6 but can easily fit more kids. Details are below:

Notes
Things to Do in Charleston:
- Go to the beach (3 to choose from). We have good beaches for littles with tide pools as well as beaches for surfing and kite surfing! Grab a Frose on the way!
- Take a Horse Carriage tour of historical downtown Charleston. The city is BEAUTIFUL, colorful, and full of history!
- SOUTHERN FOOD! Shrimp and grits, oysters, fried chicken, biscuits, bread pudding, etc. We also have some of the best restaurants (non-southern food) in the U.S. We have tons of recommendations if needed.
- Take a boat trip to Ft Sumter where the civil war began. See the harbour and learn something too!
- Attend a Riverdogs minor league baseball game. The team is owned by BILL MURRAY and the games are SO FUN!
- Golf one of the world famous golf courses in our area! My husband can provide you a 3 page list lol!
- Visit a plantation and learn about its history. Boone Hall Plantation is right down the street and is where Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively got married (and me and my husband too!)
- Attend the Charleston Food and Wine Festival held here every year. It is hugely popular and people come from all over the world to check out this event.
- In months ending in "R", go to an Oyster Roast. A gathering with strangers to enjoy oyster clusters and listen to live music!
- Take a walk over the Ravenel Bridge from Mount Pleasant to Charleston and see the beautiful views!
- Tour the U.S.S. Yorktown aircraft carrier
- Attend a match at the Charleston Open and see the world's best female tennis players. I have run into Serena Williams (a few years ago) a couple of times!
- Fish from a dock, maybe you'll catch a sheepshead!
- Additionally around town we have mini-golf, go-carts, water park, ropes courses, trampoline park, movie theaters, aquarium, children's museum, etc
Lastly, our town is close to many other great places to visit including...Savannah (2 Hours), Myrtle Beach (1.5 Hours), Orlando (6 Hours), and Asheville (4 Hours)!

Allison did a great job of communicating everything regarding her home. It was spotless, and so warm and inviting with everything decorated for Christmas! We had fun looking at the the myriad of things her kids can do with legos! Thank you so much Allison for hosting us!
We loved staying at Allison and her beautiful family’s home in mount pleasant, SC
Beautiful and super cozy home, located in a really nice area and neighborhood.
The house were nice and clean - well equipped.
We and our teenagers enjoyed the golf cart trips around the neighborhood.
Nice pool club is a part of the exchange and community.
Mount pleasant is super underrated and we can not recommend this area high enough.
Thank you Allison and family - we look forward hosting you in our house 👌
Allison's home was wonderful: spacious, modern and clean, as well as very-family friendly. The complex felt very safe and peaceful as well, with beautiful homes and nature around it. It's also a short drive away from supermarkets, cafes and restaurants.
It was very easy to get to Charleston from her home (20 mins drive), as well a other attractions, such as Boone Hall plantation.
The best part was the communication with Allison, she is super responsive and helpful. Her and her family are very generous with their home, letting us know the kids could play with all the toys and equipment (like their golf cart).
Allison, we had a great stay, thank you so much for sharing your home with us! I am sure we will keep in touch in the future! :)
There are super hosts, and then there is ALLISON. We had the most wonderful time at Allison's beautiful home in Mount Pleasant.
From the very beginning, communication with Allison was straight forward and easy. Her correspondence was prompt, thoughtful and she provided us with lots of helpful information about her home and town to help us prepare for our trip. It was very clear that she went above and beyond to make sure our stay was nothing short of exceptional. Her home was warm, well organised, and so cosy. It was the perfect place to rest after some big days of exploring the city.
Allison's home is just a short drive from Charleston city, which is bursting with life and character. We had so much fun walking the historic town and reading the plaques on the buildings. We also had a wonderful time immersing ourselves in nature, and exploring the local attractions like Boone Hall Plantation and the Isle of Palms Country Park. Our kids were so thrilled to see alligators in the wild resting in the sun by the lake!
During our stay, we also had the pleasure of meeting some of Allison's neighbours at the local playground who were all warm, friendly and chatty. We felt very welcomed by her community and really enjoyed our time sitting by the lake across the road from her house (which is just stunning)!
We are so grateful for the opportunity to visit South Carolina and can't wait to host Allison and her family at our home in the Caribbean later on this year.
We had an amazing time during out visit to Mount Pleasant/Charleston and a lot of it had to do with our wonderful stay at Allison's beautiful home. We explored a lot but it was so nice to come home to a cozy and inviting space. Our kids had plenty to keep them entertained at the home and within the neighborhood. They LOVED being able to ride a golf cart around the neighborhood, including up to the large swimming pool. Allison prepared us for our visit with a lot of helpful information and made it super easy to access her home when we arrived. I would highly recommend a stay here and already know we will enjoy having them as guests when they visit our place in Colorado.
Alison’s home is an absolute dream. It was immaculate, comfortable, and such a great place for kids. My daughter and niece never wanted to leave the house because they loved the back yard and play room so much. The kitchen is great for cooking, and the entire home makes you feel like you’re on vacation from the moment you walk in.
We took advantage of the golf cart to get around to the many pools and playgrounds in the neighborhood. And there’s so much to do nearby, and Alison was always happy to provide more recommendations when needed!
If you have a chance to swap with Alison and her family, don’t turn it down!!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Allison and her home! The location was wonderful, the house was cozy and clean and beautiful. Allison was so sweet and went out of her way to answer questions and provide suggestions and activities for us. Our trip was amazing, in no small part because of her care and hospitality. Anyone who gets to stay here is very lucky indeed!
We had a such a wonderful experience hosting Allison and her lovely family at our home in Grand Cayman as part of a non-simultaneous exchange. From the start, communication with Allison was smooth and easy. Her family was the first of two back to back exchanges and they very accomodating and flexible in working through all the logistics and challenges that sometimes come with these times of exchanges. We loved having them stay in our home whilst we visited Australia, and felt so comfortable knowing that they were there. We are still travelling but I have no doubt that they took excellent care of our home and would welcome them back in a heartbeat!
Allison, her husband & their two sons were lovely guests. Treated our home as their own and respected our house rules. They left High Nest in great shape ensuring everything was tidy when they left.
Allison and her family were wonderful guests and would be welcome back anytime. She is easy to communicate with and left our home in great condition. I highly recommend an exchange with Allison!
Allison and her family stayed at our place a while ago (we just completed the exchange this week). They were excellent guests, very clean and respectful. As well as so easy to communicate with, and overall just super kind, well-travelled people :)
I have no hesitation recommending them as guests!
Aanah’s home in the Cayman Islands was perfect in every way. I had to work while I was there but it was so easy for the rest of my family to bop around the town center, play in the fountains, and walk to the beach.
The grocery store was conveniently close and driving places was super easy as well. The beaches and snorkeling were AMAZING and we just had so much fun. We would stay in Aanah’s home again in a heartbeat!
Line’s family were really fun guests. They took advantage of everything Charleston had to offer and I loved when they would send me pictures. They took great care of my home, were easy to communicate with, and we felt we left our home in the best hands.
We cannot wait to visit their home in Denmark next summer !!!
Shannon’s home was great! My family of four had an amazing time in Costa Rica and a lot of that had to do with the comforts of her home. The house is walking distance to the beach, a quick drive to the airport, and close to many attractions. The plunge pool was a favorite of my kids and it was surprisingly large enough for cannonballs!
Jess and her family were amazing guests. They truly left my home cleaner than how they found it. They were extremely respectful and easy to communicate with and I would welcome them back any time!
Aanah and her family were truly the best guests. Pretty sure they left my house nicer than i've ever seen it!!! They were clean, respectful, flexible, and most importantly, they had fun!
I really enjoyed communicating with Aanah while she was planning her trip and throughout her time here. It felt like I was chatting with a friend!
We cannot wait to head down to her home in the Caymans this summer.
Wow wow wow!!! Jess’s home in Summit County, CO was one of the best family trips we’ve ever taken. It was close to so many mountains and towns and there was so much to do. The best part was that their condo is right on the blue river with an amazing biking/walking path. My kids loved being able to hike and play near the river and we loved that there were bridges so we could walk to restaurants. During our trip we visited Breckenridge, Copper, Keystone, Glenwood Springs, and so much more. Jess provided great recommendations and we are so thankful that we got to spend time in this part of the country!
Jessica's family were THE BEST visitors! They took great care of our home, you couldn't even tell they were there. We are very excited to visit their home in Colorado!
Erik's home was SO beautiful! So many cool details and a great outdoor space. We felt right at home for our week in Tucson.
Holly and her family were great guests! We were lucky enough to have them in our home while we were away and they took great care of it. Holly was great at communicating leading up to the exchange and we would welcome them back any time!
Jessica and her family were amazing guests. They took great care of our home and left us such a sweet gift. I enjoyed our conversations and would welcome them back any time!
This was our first exchange and it was perfect. Jessica was a great communicator and her home was beautiful!! I would highly recommend exchanging with this awesome family. We look forward to them coming to Charleston soon!

Hi! My family resides in Mount Pleasant, SC, right next to downtown Charleston and the Atlantic Ocean. We love to travel and want to expose our children to different places and cultures. When we aren't traveling we are usually boating, beaching, building legos, or exploring the history, culture, and most importantly the FOOD in Charleston!
Our hometown is so special and is repeatedly awarded the #1 city in the U.S. by Condé Nast and Travel & Leisure magazine. We would like people from all over the world to come check it out!
