Just over an hour from Auckland, our house is a secluded waterfront home, in a semi-rural location, on one acre. Surrounded by regional parks and near to beaches and walks. Kayak off the lawn.
Our home is quite an unusual architect designed home in two suites on separate levels . Surrounded by native trees and we have a frog pond in the courtyard.
Very open plan living and large courtyards under cover with an outdoor fire.
The space
The main living area can open up fully in both sides depending upon the weather. Sea on one side or courtyard on the other. The master bedroom and bathroom and laundry are on this main level with our lounge/dining/kitchen.
There is a high ceiling and high windows with bush and sea views.
Guest access
There are stairs outside between the levels. Not suitable for wheelchairs. Note it is external access between the suites so may not suit some families.
The third bedroom in our current set up is through a path in the garden sleepout. It is comfortable and quiet but separate.
Notes
The house was designed by Guy Tarrant and this house is on his website. It won awards.
There are water hazards everywhere so not suitable for small children.

Neighbourhood
Our neighbourhood is usually called Scotts Landing. We have a website for Scotts Landing and an active community of neighbours. Suzette is the local network coordinator. It is super friendly. We all live on one acre blocks and are committed to revegetating in natives plants and looking after the waterways. Boating is popular.

Suzette
Suzette and Barry are newly retired and are experienced home exchangers. A retired teacher and transport planner, they have been lucky enough to travel extensively. Now grandparents, and with adult children living overseas we foresee the next decade flying around visiting family and dropping in on destinations on the way. We are lucky enough to also have a caravan.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
