Neighbourhood
In a small village called Kallergos in the center of Crete in the vicinity of endless olive trees, lays the perfect home for your next vacation. This is a traditional stone house, part of which was built 200 years ago and some of it 100 years ago
Getting to my home
The house is in a perfect location in the center of Crete:
70 km from Heraklion airport, 90 km from Chania airport
22 km from Rethymno, 10 km from a wonderful beach, and 5 km from the nearest town, Perama, where you can get whatever you need.
The location of the house is a great starting point for day trips around Crete.
Nearest airport
70 km from Heraklion airport, 90 km from Chania airport
We had an incredible week long stay at the Blue Daisy house. The home is beautifully restored - you feel you’re in a bygone era but with modern comforts. We loved being out in the countryside and exploring the villages and sites nearby. Archaeological sites, museums, quaint villages, hiking, beaches and amazing food. Truly a unique experience we highly recommend.
Uri and Aliza's home is breathtakingly beautiful. They did a great job renovating a 200+ year stone house, keeping the character of the home while updating it to have modern amenities. It is about one hour from Heraklion, the largest city in Crete, so we rented a car for a week. One of the highlights of our visit was to swim with the fishes in the warm, refreshingly clear water. Thank you for letting us staying at your house
Wow - what can we say! We had the most amazing week at Uri and Aliza's unique place in rural Crete. We enjoyed avoiding the tourists and experiencing their restored 200 year old house - their outdoor traditional pizza oven is class! Their home is perfectly located to explore the culture and traditions of the island, with a rental car we made it from Chania in the east to Spinalonga (of 'The Island' fame) in the West... and everywhere in between. We visited historical monasteries, learned about bees and honey making, visited olive groves, did some gorge walking, saw amazing potters at work in a local village and of course visited local restaurants and beaches. Truly an amazing experience. Anna, their house keeper, was always on hand for tips too. We would highly recommend an exchange with Uri and Aliza - five stars from us!
Uri and Aliza gave us the chance to spend a week in their beautiful Blue Daisy House. It is a magical place, perfect for recharging your batteries, taking your time and admiring the landscape. The renovation of the house is remarkable, it's simple, without superfluities, but everything is there, nothing is missing.
We were able to discover the wonders of Crete, from north to south.
Thank you again Uri and Aliza, we look forward to welcoming you to Nantes!
Eve, Cyril and Aglaé
We enjoyed a magical week in Uri's lovingly restored home in the countryside of Crete. The house itself was a true piece of art--the perfect mix of creative, historic, and homey. We loved the opportunity to stay in a less-touristy area of the island and had a great time exploring the surrounding towns while being an easy drive from major sites. We found the space to be perfect for our family of five--big enough to cook meals and play games on the porch.
Uri was a lovely exchange partner--very organized and communicative. We also had a great experience with Anna, the house manager who is local to the island and a fantastic resource during the swap. We're grateful to them both for providing a wonderful stay.
Highly recommend for anyone wanting to spend time on Crete!
Uri's and Aliza's place is magical - in the mountains of beautiful Crete, a rellay old house "rebuilt" with the utmost care and passion. We had a great time there, the house satisfied all our needs, it was quiet, peaceful, practical and comforted our family of little kids very well. Ideal for tours by car, we visited many amazing places in Crete (from Elafonisi to Agois Nikolaos). We would be happy to return whenever we can:)
A very special old stone house in a small village in Crete! Made into what it is today, or already is, with an incredible amount of love and skill. Georg and I were at the Blue Daisy at the beginning of May. Spring in Crete with the intoxicating scent of the wild herbs that grow nearby.
Communication with Uri was a pleasure from the start. Before, during and after our stay. The “support” on site was also really great! After a long winter in Austria and a lot of work in the spring, we were really looking forward to Crete, the sun, light and the sea. Well.........
The weather was really bad. Surprise! Wind, storm, cold and rain! Fun stop!!!
Well, we made the best of it. What to do?!? Luckily, there is tons to do, discover, love in Crete!
It's just a shame that we weren't able to enjoy the outside areas of the house too often due to the weather.
The house is something very special. Unique! Definitely not ideal for everyone. A great experience for us!!
I can highly recommend Blue Daisy and the hosts, Uri and Aliza!!
Apparently the sun mostly shines on Crete! ;-)!
We really enjoyed our exchange at Uri & Aliza‘s house , in a very small village, Where they have created a peaceful retreat to the hustle & bustle of the Island..
Although its just 30 mins away from the beach & city.
We loved the creative use of re-using materials that have had a previous life, along with the art work that is throughout the House..
We did some hiking in the area, exploring some of the ancient History, and local villages. Explored different beaches and The Local food.
But, we also spent a lot of time just relaxing in the Garden. Listening to the sound of almost silence,
We would definitely recommend staying here. If you want to enjoy a peaceful rural setting, but with the sound & energy of the city , very reachable.
We would definitely look forward to repeating an exchange.
The Blue Daisy House is a wonderfull old Greek-style house, renovated to the modern needs. It has all the things you need to enjoy both the cozy countryside, and visit the beatifull beaches and cities Crete has to offer.
It was so lovely to meet Uri and Aliza when they stayed at our Kurrajong Heights home recently. They were very easy to communicate with and we were glad to be able to accommodate them to experience the Hawkesbury region. They left the house so clean and tidy that we wouldn't even have known they were there. And we were so excited to find a stunning amazing original drawing that Aliza created during their stay. We will frame it and treasure it!
Uri and Aliza were lovely home exchange guests. Our apartment was clean and tidy when we returned and they also had washed and dried their sheets and towels.
Aliza had even left us a lovely little ink drawing she did of our living room.
Uri and Aliza are lovely people and we were very happy to have them stay in our house for a week. They were very appreciative of our place and looked after it very well - leaving it in perfect order and nice and clean. Aliza also left us a charming drawing of the house.
Communication was excellent and we enjoyed chatting with them on their arrival - to our surprise even discovering a mutual connection despite living on opposite sides of the world!
I have no hesitation in recommending them as ideal guests and swap partners.
A great pleasure to have Uri and Aliza stay at our place. Aliza left us a gorgeous artistic drawing of our home that we will treasure. We were away and didn't get to meet but loved chatting and would welcome them anytime .
It was a great pleasure to get to know Uri and Aliza personally and to be able to make my two homes in Vienna and Lunz am See available to them for their big European project! I would have liked to have spent more time with you!
Wonderful guests, great people!
If you long for Lunz too much, just come back!
We had the pleasure of meeting Aliza & Uri, before we left for the airport.
A lovely couple, who we immediately felt very comfortable with.
Communication beforehand and during the exchange , was quick & easy.
Everything was fine when we returned. We would recommend hosting with Uri & Aliza.
Thanks for the beautiful drawing, that was left for us on our return.
Aliza posted photos of our house on social media, which I found particularly fascinating, to see our house through her eyes.
We hope to meet again.
Uri and his wife were the perfect guests, had good communication before the exchange and we even received a very kind gift from them:)
Uri and Aliza were very respectfull to our house and cats. Communication went very smooth and we recommend Uri and Aliza as a guest in your house!
Nancy and her family stayed with us in Crete. The communication with them was excellent. They looked after our house and left it in perfect condition throughout their stay. They are highly recommended.
Joel and Jan are so welcoming. Their house is a very peaceful and quiet space. In front of their pool, you can feel like you are inside a painting by David Hockney. Beautiful bedrooms and luxurious bathrooms. A kitchen that is a feast for cooks. It is a perfect place for a vacation.
Great place to explore the Blue Mountains. Go for it
Efti and Rustam are the perfect guests. Very good communication along the exchanges. Respectful to our house and left it in a perfect condition. Thank you for this exchange
We had a great week at Frances and Gary's house in Sydney.
The street and the neighborhood are fantastic.
Just note there is no internet in the house
We were very happy to stay at Tamara and James' house. Tamara picked us up from the airport and at home James and the girls were waiting to welcome us. We received a guided tour of the house which was arranged and polished for us and we immediately fell in love. The family welcomed us with warmth and joy and the beautiful house in art deco style with great colors was cozy and welcoming..
It was an excellent week in Brisbane. Very recommended.
This was one of our most successful home exchanges in every way. Jane took care of everything for us, from picking us up at the airport after a 23-hour flight to Australia, providing a car for our use, giving us comprehensive information about the area, and maintaining constant communication for every little detail.
But above all, the house – a truly unique gem. A mud-brick house with a wooden frame, stone flooring, and wooden windows. Inside, carefully selected furniture pieces were collected to complete the look and feel of a warm and cozy home.
Surrounding the house is a wonderful garden filled with orchid pots and local plants.
Don't miss it if you're looking for a great place and people near Melbourne!

We stayed at Dagmar's house in Vienna. A classic Viennese apartment in the 7th district is tastefully furnished and Dagmar's personal touch is evident everywhere. The apartment is well equipped and very spacious. The neighborhood is very pleasant and full of cafes and restaurants. The environment is great and the proximity to all the sites of interest is excellent.
Thank you dear Uri and dear Aliza! Hope you 'arrived' safely!
Fiona and Martin's house in southern Germany, close to Stuttgart is great. This is a house converted from an old barn into a comfortable and well-equipped residence. Outside there is a small garden full of vegetables and spices which we enjoyed very much.
When we arrived at the house Fiona and Martin welcomed us with coffee and local pastries. We received excellent explanations from them about the house and the possibilities in the area.We stayed there for a week and it served us as an excellent point for sightseeing trips to the Romantic Road, the Black Forest, Heidelberg and Tübingen
Melinda house in Skerries, where you can get one of the best fish & chips in Ireland is beautiful and very cozy.
The entire house is very well equipped and we enjoyed our stay there very much. The house is very close to the sea and the whole surrondings is green, green and.....green.
Dublin is an hour away by train.
