Neighbourhood
Our home looks out over greenspace, ponds, and a mountain, and it is situated right in the middle of lively community. Coffee shop, bakery, artist studios, breweries, a wide variety of restaurants, great bookstore, ice cream shop, Sunday farmers market, vintage stores, parks, and many other destinations are just blocks from our front door!
Our town also has a vibrant arts scene, with regular art walks and many music festivals and events. There's a great local food scene as well, orchards and u-pick berries, etc. It's truly a lovely location.
There is a "rail trail" (dedicated bike/walking paved path) two blocks away that you can use to bike to nearby college towns of Northampton (5mi/8km) and Amherst (13 mi), and other charming towns along the way.
If you have a car (which is highly recommended in this area), there are many fabulous natural and cultural destinations within an hour or so. Just a few examples:
MassMOCA - world-class art museum, highly recommended! (Williamstown, 1.25 hrs)
Double Edge Theatre (Ashfield, 40 min)
Tanglewood music venue (Berkshires, 1 hr)
Eric Carle Museum (Amherst, 30 min)
Basketball Hall of Fame (Springfield, 25 min)
Mark Twain House and Wordsworth Atheneum (Hartford CT, 1 hour)
There are a lot of lovely hiking spots nearby, possibilities for boating on and around the Connecticut River, and endless more dramatic hikes in the Berkshires an hour away.
Nearest airport
Logan Airport in Boston MA and Bradley International in Hartford CT
Getting around
You can easily get around our town on foot, and we have bikes to loan to get to nearby towns. There are also buses.
A car is highly recommended to take full advantage of the area.
