We're in a quiet residential neighborhood just a 15-20 minute drive away from the energy of downtown Portland, Oregon. Our home is nestled in old wood trees and we have spent lots of time filling it with treasures from our adventures. The house is set up for two adults and two kids with an additional cabin in the back, can accommodate a family or couples!
The best part of our location is the proximity to gorgeous nature. Mt. Hood is incredible hiking and the coastal beaches an hour and a half away, iconic Multnomah falls is about a 45 minute drive. There are plenty of great hikes within town as well.
We hope you'll enjoy staying here just as much as we do!
The space
Master bedroom with king sized bed and balcony is available for couples. 2 kids rooms can also be made available, one has a bunk bed. Living room, dining room, open kitchen, 2.5 bathrooms and backyard is yours to use! If there's a group of more of you, the cabin in the back of the house can comfortably accommodate with an additional queen fold-out (it doesn't have a separate bathroom, but is set up for living with mini fridge, tv, internet). The cabin is also a cat-free zone.
This is a primary family home, we will tidy for you, but it will be well lived in, loved, and artsy!
Large backyard has a bbq, firepit and garden. Picnic table with lights above are perfect for dining outside.
The space is modular and can accommodate a wide range of needs! Mood lighting can be changed to adjust your color palette :)
Guest access
The whole downstairs is accessible without any stairs (two living rooms, bathroom, kitchen). However, all of the main bedrooms are on the 2 floor.
The back porch has a sliding glass door and patio with 3 steps to reach the dirt floor.
Notes
We've got cats! They come and go outside on their own and are easy-going, and love to be pet. To note if you have allergies. There's family nearby that can usually feed them that we can also arrange if requested.
The house is big and the backyard is fenced off so we could consider well-behaved other animals if they wouldn't chase after the cats, to be discussed.

Neighbourhood
Quiet residential neighborhood not far from the highway that takes you downtown Portland in 15-20 minutes. We're a 15 -25 min walk to Cook Park with hiking trails, access to the Tualatin River, playgrounds, and picnic areas. The route to Portland is littered with hiking trails of all types. Multnomah waterfalls is about a 45 minute drive, the rugged coast is about 1.5 hours away west, and Mt Hood to the east for great hiking in the summer or skiing in the winter.
Getting to my home
Car is needed around here, though within Portland there is public transportation. We could discuss the possibility of using our vehicle.
Nearest airport
30-45 min drive from PDX.
Getting around
We have grocery stores within ten minutes of the house. There's some fantastic farmers market's in town in the warm months, and if you come in late summer you are welcome to all that our garden provides.
Anastasiya and James' home was SO COOL! Although I personally did not get to go, my wife and daughter went to hang out with their lovely cats. Communication was so easy, the house had everything needed, and the location is perfect. Nice and quiet for the street, but easy access to everything Portland has to offer. We feel so lucky that we got to help them out and use their home to explore.
Anastasiya & James' place is great! Quiet neighborhood with lots of mature trees. The house has a lot of fun colors and cool art, and the four cats are easy and friendly. Would definitely exchange again! :)
Anastasiya & James were just lovely hosts and provided excellent hospitality. They hosted my daughter and myself for a night and couldn't be more accommodating. We truly enjoyed our short visit with them. If you are in the Portland, Oregon area I encourage you to connect with these folks:)
Amastasyia and James were very attentive to our calls. Portland has beautiful landscapes. We got to go to Seattle. The independent cats with their food in the morning and evening were happy.
Anistasiya and James were very kind and flexible in welcoming us to their home. We enjoyed our week. The cats were easy and appeared to accept our presence in the house. We look forward to connecting again in Berlin.
Anastasiya & James were great to exchange with! Great communication and easy going. Would definitely exchange again! :)
They were only in Lima for a few days, they took advantage of traveling through the jungle and mountains of Peru. I had the pleasure of sharing a beer with Anastasiya and James in Lima, very friendly
Jennifer, Kayla, and their daughter were delightful to communicate with! Kayla and their daughter stayed at our place and took great care of our cats and our space. It was lovely getting to connect with all of them virtually and we appreciated all of the photos and updates they sent while we were away :) Not to mention the lovely treats! Thanks!
Natasha's place was so lovely. It was close to everything in Bend and we went on some incredible hikes nearby. The hot tub was a perfect way to unwind after lots if walking. Her kitties were self sufficient and we got some petting in on the last day!
Natasha was a great guest! Communicative and respectful. She took great care of our space and our cats. She's welcome back any time!
Leanne and Taylor were such a joy to host! They had great stories to share and and were very gracious. It was a short, but sweet visit and they are welcome back anytime :)
Paula was extremely welcoming and informational about everything we might want to know about our trip. Communication began early and often and any questions were answered quickly. :)
Paula's house is quite lovely and was easy to access and get into. Her backyard is wonderful and it was fun getting to spend time in her neighborhood and getting to the know the area. Thanks!
Paula took care of our plants and kitties and left the house in great shape. Despite a couple of unforeseen issues (cats knocking over a shelf), Paula was able to work with us to ensure she had everything she needed. Thanks!
Leslie and Hanns were delightful visitors! They were flexible, communicative, and took great care of our plants and our cats. They were very sweet and left us treats and replenished everything they used in the house. I just wish we had more time to chat before we had to run off for our own travels. Next time in Europe :) They are welcome back any time.
